This team has been a house of horrors no matter where you look.

Starting Pitching: Did Stearns drink too much of his own Kool-aid and honestly believed that these reclamation projects would work out? Or did he always know this was a house of cards and hope that the batters would make up the difference.

Hitters: If "In Search of" was still on TV, the top 4 Mets hitters could easily be a topic. This is on both the hitters and the coaches (I know many don't want to put blame on the coaches here, but way are they even on the payroll if they don't have some accountability with the team hitting?)

Baby Mets: There is clearly a disconnect between Syracuse and Queens. These players rake in AAA and then struggle mightily in the show. Rinse and repeat. I think this is a combination of coaching problems and the constant rotation of who plays each day.

Relief pitchers: To me, this group gets the least of the blame. They can only do so much if the starters can't make it past 4 innings.

Bottom line: There need to be some BIG changes this off-season. And as for playoffs, this team has no business being in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, all of this is true.

It's not just that the Mets gave up 7 BBs ... it's that they allowed 6 of them to score.

Both Peterson and Garrett weren't just missing the corners, they were missing by a foot. I believe those pitches are referred to as "non-competitive" nowadays. That, unfortunately, describes this team for too much of the season.

Why are the odds makers so positive about the Mets going to the playoffs?

Do the Reds have a tough schedule? They have a one-game deficit and play the Mets again. Tiebreakers are forthcoming based on that series & divisional records.

The Reds scuffle, but they are credible. But the Mets still have a nearly 80% chance?

Cincy does not have an easy schedule the rest of the season. They have TWO West coast trips to end the season, plus got to end their season with Chicago and Milwaukee. They may only play 6 games with teams under .500. Mets still have the edge here. Requires a similar effort to last year. Will their experience help put them over the top remains to be seen.

Thanks. The Mets have a fairly tough schedule. Until the Mets play better, their edge remains to be seen.

I wish I had a bigger vocabulary so I could adequately describe my feelings about this year's Mets. The closest I can get to is that there is no team in this team. They are a group of players, some of whom are not very good, some are good, and some are very good, but they do not complement each other. The team has no identity other than the traits and stats of the individual players. ... IMO.

The Mets waited way to long to address the starting pitching which did start out pretty terrific until....

The good news is that we can take our attention away from RISP at least for a couple days. I tallied 37 baserunners over the last two games, RISP 7-15. Pitching meltdown, implosion, meltdown, implosion. Earlier this year Peterson had a couple of bad games and bounced back, hope that repeats.

Just awful. Sad to say this, but many coaches will be looking for new jobs. It's not their fault, but the wheels have completely come off.

Seaver, Koosman, Gooden and Matlack ain't coming through the door.

You said it. Doomed. There’s no reason to believe this team cares enough to fight to win. I’m serious. I seeing better baseball out of the Marlins and other losing teams right now. This team is just listless. I’ve actually stopped watching them. I refuse to devote anymore time into a team that puts this on display nightly. Cohen called out the fans and we have shown up as attendance has been awesome this season and this is what they put on the field? Talk about gratitude. I’ve been to a few games this year and right now I feel like a sucker. Like I’ve had my money stolen and burned in front of me. If this team makes the playoffs and that’s a big if right now anything short of the WS is a bust as this basically same team went to the NLCS last year. Am I crazy to be thinking like this? People need to lose jobs over it too. If this team starts winning I think I’m done this year. College Football starts real soon too. I’m so pissed that I wasted so much time and energy on this team.

Can we call out Uncle Stevie? Soto leads the world in walks, has quite a few stolen bases and homers, yet he flat out sucks as an outfielder, and is a DIVO (diva).

Great signing. Kudos to Uncle Steve for his willingness to fork over the money. He could be better in the field but he doesn't suck. What evidence (not conjecture) is there that he's a diva? If I were in his position I wouldn't be Mr. Humble either. Being ultra-rich is not a sin. He was in the right place at the right time and reaped the rewards.

Soto is hitting .137 with RISP this season. Pete Alonso, who strikes out a ton, is hitting .333 with RISP.

But you go ahead with your boy Soto.

Being ultra rich has NOTHING to do with being a divo. No, I'm not in the locker room, but I NEVER hear the radio guys say that Juan Soto helps out the younger hitters like Lindor and like J.D. Martinez used to.

At the beginning of the year I had total trust in David Stearns, but not any more. It seems now that he was “high on his own supply” when he constructed this rotation. It appears he thought the Mets organization could magically transform any mediocre-to-below-average pitcher into a successful starter. It worked for a while, but their lack of talent has been exposed over the long haul of the season. The starting staff (with the exception of Peterson—last night not withstanding) has been one question mark after another. None of them seem to be able to get through the second time around the batting order without major implosion. I hope that McClean, Sproat and Tong can succeed at the major-league level and help fortify the rotation next season. Hopefully we don’t end up with multiple reclamation projects again. This has been brutal.

I read that the AAA guys are nearing THEIR innings pitched limits. There's no way the all ups are gonna make 5-7 starts each in NY

Disagree. Stearns couldn't have anticipated how little contribution Manea would make, that Holmes would tire, That Senga would turn from great to crap. I can fault him on the montas signing but other side of coin is that Canning was better than expected before injury. And let's recall that of the 3 big free agent starters, only one has performed as hoped, Fried.

"Just one night after exploding for a bunch of home runs and offering hope that a defining turning point was about to be reached, this team instead opted to crap the bed yet again and lay the biggest Godzilla-sized egg of the season so far."

No starting pitching means no momentum. And right now, our rotation is nowhere. There's still time for them to turn it around, but just barely. This next turn through is it.

Boy, blaming the offense in a game where they gave up 11 is akin to blaming the victim of a crime for not having enough surveillance on him.

Their season has walked to the brink because of their starting pitching, and their starting pitching, alone. Ask any team that had championship aspirations this season, only to see it crater and the same issue comes up. Starting pitching. Ask Baltimore, ask Atlanta, ask Arizona, and perhaps a few others. The Mets might very well be added to this list. I sincerely hope that is not the case.

Paciencia, bla bla bla, confianza, bla, bla, bla... Un equipo a punto de desmoronarse completamente bajo la mirada de un propietario pasivo (no paciente), y mientras su mano derecha está de gira por Asia. Alguien me lo puede explicar, si es que es posible?
