Darren Oliver? How about Trevor Williams. For almost 3 years the guy was invaluable for the Mets and if recollection serves me right it was more recent than 20 years ago. The question I have is with Soto hitting the IL why is Mauricio being called up? He’s not an outfielder and they certainly don’t need another DH or SS or infielder. This is a waste of his last option and unless he stays and Young goes back where are his at bats? They should have brought up MJ or Pache. Vientos certainly isn’t sitting and Baty needs to play as much as possible too. The moves this team makes sometimes. I swear.

If it's true that Mauricio can't be sent back down without going through waivers, then you're right, this move is a head-shaker. He'd surely be grabbed and the organization will lose a guy with a lot of talent who might develop into a good player. Absolutely, Vientos and Baty can't sit so that Mauricio can play. When Soto comes back someone will have to be trimmed and Young has been better than expected. Melendez or Pache makes more sense.

I think he can be sent back one last time but I could be wrong and to burn it here makes no sense unless Stearns is working on something.

"...it’s preferable if the Mets were to give him a start over Sean Manaea right now, even if it’s only for 3-4 innings." I couldn't disagree more. Myers is much too valuable in his current role to be used as a spot starter and Manaea's decline has been exaggerated imo. I also wish the article had mentioned that we're carrying two ineffective relievers on the team (Garcia and Lovelady). And I do wish someone would explain why the Mets had all winter to find relief help and couldn't do better than Garcia and Lovelady. I'd also like an explanation of why it's apparently forbidden for Weaver to go more than one inning.
