I wouldn't trade for Alcantara or anyone like that. Keep the prospects and use Cohen's resources to sign free agent starters, even if you lose some draft picks and international bonus money. Spoat and Tong are worth more than those picks, who would have to be developed. I'd consider signing Michael King and Ranger Suarez, for example. Or even Zac Gallen.
Absolutely! The price of Benge, Williams, plus one of Tong or Sproat is too high. Each of those guys might turn out to be the ace we want or, even more likely, McLean will be.
I'd love to have Alcantara. But we need to be better defensively if we're going to make a deal for him, or anyone else like him.
On that note, I'm really happy to see Stearns on board with Luisangel Acuña. If he starts, we get a lot better up the middle (Lindor LOVES playing with him) and a lot better on the right side (all of a sudden, Pete's range issue isn't an issue any longer).
It is interesting right now, but I get the sense that this market, both trade and free agency, is going to be really odd due to the lack of clarity of what the next CBA brings post 2026. A few odd signs already.
The QOs given out, and I suspect a few may elect to accept it and get paid this year with the unknown horizon. The surprise opt-in by Bieber and the declined options by the Cubs and Rays.
Just feels like a weird dynamic is going to make this a twisting off season.
Bob Nightengale is an asshole. He writes shit that is so outrageous for clicks. He has no real insider information and relies on smaller writers who don’t have the platform he does and steals from them before they can get credit for the reporting. He’s a scumbag. RIP LARRY BROOKS. He’s a hockey guy for the most part as I’m sure most of us know but he wrote right up until about a month ago when he said he was stepping away for a bit and would be back. Had no idea he had cancer but he died today. Great career. Well respected sports writer

Steve 1962 makes sense!! I don’t like the idea of the price that will be need to get the
Don’t trade our young talent for a rental!!!!!
Keep our 3 new young guys and pay for 2 number 2’s. Remember, there is always July mixes as well.

I was hoping for Sandy at the deadline

I’d much rather see a rotation of Mclean, Holmes, Peterson, Sproat, Manaea, Senga then trade 3 top prospects for 1 arm.
