Tough break for Griff. He was putting together a very, very decent season, the best of his career. And he had found a home. You just hate to see it.

But looking at it from a competitive standpoint, it does put us in a fix. I hate the thought of us trading prospects for a veteran arm, but at the same time, we might be forced into it. There just aren't a lot out there on non-contending teams where the price would be right.

It's possible Kansas City would be willing to part with Kris Bubic for a young catcher to pick up the mantle from Salvador Perez and a promising second baseman to pair in the middle infield with Bobby Witt Jr.

But that would mean Alvie and either Mauricio, Baty or Acuña, and I don't want to give any of those guys away. I'd rather see us be patient, get through the All-Star break, and then assess where our pitching health is.

If we have Senga, Peterson, Manaea, Montas, Holmes and Blackburn all healthy, we have enough. If we get Megill back healthy to be the sixth man instead of Blackburn, even better.

If they have Senga Peterson and Manea by mid to end July, you are right. Otherwise a trade for pitching is required. Mets can’t keep Vientos, Baty, Mauricio, Acuna and McNeil vying for 2 positions, so if not for pitching how about a full time CF.

If any of those guys move, it's for a starting pitcher. We won't let them go for another position player.

The problem is, there aren't many starters available, at least not right now. Only a few teams are sellers. Maybe as we get closer to the deadline things will change.

Sad to see Canning go down like that. Nice to see the BP step up for the first time in a while. Warren really saved us. I’d either put Tidwell in the rotation for now or call up McLean. Can either be worse than Blackburn? I wonder who gets sent down when Vientos is activated today?

Glad they listened to me and kept Mauricio up. He needs experience. Big talent.

I have yet to see Blackburn look effective .

Alcantara hasn't been bad lately. In his last three starts, he's thrown 17 innings, giving up 5 runs with 15 strikeouts and 4 walks. He's under club control through 2027 (age 31) with salaries of $17,300,000, $17,300,000 and a club option for $21,000,000.

Worth taking a Chance. Uncle Steve: in for a dime, in for a dollar. Might be money well spent. Maybe vientos can get the deal done?

There isn't anything that could get JdG to waive his no-trade to return to the Mets. He couldn't get out of here fast enough.

To help with the bullpen and for my shita and giggles, can we PLEASE bring back Dicky Lovelady? He is a lefty after all. :-)

Too bad for Griff as overall was pretty terrific for the Mets. I'd think big and try to get the Pirates young ace. Prospects are usually just that prospects. Remember who got the overwhelming better of the deal when we traded our Franchise many years ago. It was not us.
