Needed last night's game to be able to breathe.

Soto is amazing. Mauricio gets 3 hits probably before getting sent down for Vientos. Dicky Lovelady we hardly knew ya.

What I really wanted last night, other than a W, was for Pintaro to get that final out

Imagine being on your way from Binghamton to Syracuse, and the next thing you know, you're standing on the bump at Citi Field facing the Braves, of all people. No wonder the guy was terrified. LOL

I liked his stuff, though. He was hitting some spots until he started overthrowing. He very well might have a job.

Yeah, he looped through. We've been doing that a lot. He'll be back, though.

Even the 1962 Mets could get 1 of 4. Need to send Atlanta out of Corona with a loss tonight. There are a few guys like Soto that will end up doing what they do to help the team win, but there are some who have not done what they are supposed to do.

Did you see the 1962 Mets? 😀

Yes , 40-120. The few times I saw them at the Polo Grounds they always found a way to lose, not unlike the last stretch of games. I do think this team will rebound and be around in October, and hopefully in November!

With the rebirth of Juan Soto, if they are determined to leave Nimmo in the 2 slot, it would be beneficial if he (Nimmo) reverted to an on-base machine instead of a power hitter. His OBP at present is the lowest of his career.

I'm just glad he's doing ok because earlier this year I was worried that he was finished. I don't get the impression that he's trying to hit homers.

Impressive showing from Soto, no doubt—but I’ll be more impressed if the Mets’ supporting cast can replicate that offensive output against a pitcher with more than one career start. Soto’s June has been historic, but guys like Mauricio and Baty need to prove they can produce when the stakes—and the pitching—are higher. Beating up on a rookie is one thing; sustaining that energy against seasoned arms is another. Let’s see if this was a spark or just a blip.

Why not send Young down (dfa?) and keep Mauricio up? Vientos can DH some, as can Baty. I'd rather Marte loses playing time than one of the younger players.

I hope the people that were dumping on Soto a short time ago (remember he had the temerity to decline an interview?) remember next time that even great players have ups and downs. My boy McNeil is not the fastest or strongest, he's just got great instincts, a ballplayer. Let's dream that Baty's and Mauricio's hitting yesterday is a harbinger of things to come.
