Mets are now getting the true version of Juan Soto
New York's offense went off in a huge win over the Braves, powered by Soto who made yet more history...
What’s up with the Mets? ⚾
The Mets snapped their three-game losing streak thanks to a 7-3 win over the Braves on Wednesday night (box)
RHP Clay Holmes allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks with two strikeouts across five innings
The bullpen bounced back in a big way - three pitchers combined to allow just one hit and one walk with four strikeouts in three scoreless innings. RHP Jonathan Pintaro - making his MLB debut - allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth, but RHP Edwin Díaz got the final out for his 16th save of the year
RF Juan Soto had a historic night, blasting a pair of huge home runs while finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs
2B Ronny Mauricio had himself a monster night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and a RBI
The Mets recorded a total of 13 hits on the night and had four batters have a multi-hit game, including 3B Brett Baty who went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI
Roster Moves 📰
RHP Jonathan Pintaro selected to the Major League roster
LHP Brandon Waddell recalled from Triple-A Syracuse
LHP José Castillo and LHP Richard Lovelady designated for assignment
Injury Updates 🏥
3B Mark Vientos (low-grade hamstring strain) went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and one run scored in his final rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. He also made a stellar defensive play in the field. Vientos will join the Mets on Thursday. He will either be activated at that time, or given an off day and be activated on Friday
Juan Soto - History Maker! 🔥
Juan Soto hit two homers on Wednesday for the 27th multi-homer game of his career - passing Jimmie Fox for the most in Major League history before turning 27
Soto also joined Mets icon Darryl Strawberry as just the second Met to have 10-plus home runs and 20-plus walks in a calendar month
He’s the first Met to record 10 homers, 20 runs scored and 20 walks in a single calendar month
Soto’s 19 homers through 81 games this year are tied for the most home runs he’s hit over the first 81 games of a season
The four-time All-Star is now hitting .325/.485/.753/.1.238 with 25 hits, 22 runs scored, three doubles, 10 homers, 18 RBIs and 23 walks in the month of June
Soto now leads all Mets in 2025 with 19 home runs, while he’s on pace for 38 homers
Play of the Game 🌟
You can make a strong argument that one of Juan Soto’s two homers deserves to take over this section today. And you would have a very, very, very good point.
After all, Soto’s second homer of the night was one that made significant baseball history.
However, with that said, were it not for some stellar defense early in the game, who knows if we would even be talking about Soto today?
In the top of the first, with one out and a runner on first, Marcell Ozuna crushed a pitch and looked to have given the Braves an early lead with a two-run bomb.
Instead, Jeff McNeil - who was playing center field - tracked the ball well and made a great, well-timed leap at the wall to rob the home run and prevent the Braves from taking what could have been a soul-crushing lead.
The play was a crucial one in the overall tenor of the game, setting the tone for what was to come. It was also a hugely impressive play given that McNeil isn’t a natural CF.

Juan Soto has now well and truly arrived for the Mets… ✍️
Welcome to The Juan Soto Show.
After a long time coming, Mets fans finally got to break out the MVP chant for their $765 million man.
They were finally able to witness exactly why their superstar hitter is probably going to waltz into the Hall of Fame on roller skates.
Those inside Citi Field were also able to witness the 26-year-old further etch his name into the record books.
Yes, Wednesday night will go down as Soto’s first real crowning moment in a Mets uniform.
The human spectacle put on a show for the ages in the third game of the series against the Braves. He led off the fourth inning with a solo home run that broke a 1-1 tie and ignited a five-run flurry.
Soto led by example, and his teammates responded in kind, coming up with big hit after big hit to send the Braves to the canvas time and time again.
More jaw-dropping things were to come from the man with the richest contract in baseball, however.
In the bottom of the seventh, with the game already effectively over, Soto stepped to the plate and crushed his second home run of the game to surpass Jimmie Foxx for the most multi-homer games in Major League history by a player before turning 27.
Yes, it is easy to forget that Soto is still only 26 years old, given the laundry list of achievements he’s already piled up.
It is also easy to forget just how special Soto has been in the month of June, given that the Mets as a team have fallen off a cliff during that span.
Following Wednesday’s game, Soto is now hitting .325/.485/.753/.1238 with 25 hits, 22 runs scored, three doubles, 10 homers, 18 RBIs, and 23 walks in the month of June.
That’s the very definition of a banner month.
Furthermore, he has five home runs in his last five games, and he’s raised his OPS by more than 100 points over the last 19 days.
Soto now leads the Mets in home runs, runs, walks, on-base percentage, and bWAR. He’s also stolen nine bases, further highlighting his all-round ability and high baseball IQ.
At the time of writing this, Soto is on pace for 38 home runs, 90 RBIs, 132 walks— which would lead all of MLB— and 18 stolen bases.
As the great Larry David would say, that’s pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Plus, if Soto can maintain this current pace and stay on his current trajectory, he will find himself part of the NL MVP conversation by the time we get to the dog days of summer. That in itself would have seemed unthinkable only a month or so ago.
All in all, this is the version of Soto that everyone connected with the Mets has been waiting for ever since the ink on that record-breaking contract was still wet.
We’ve all been patiently longing for nights like Wednesday when Soto simply took over, putting his generational talent front and center and having his fingerprints all over a win.
The greatness we’re witnessing now was a long time coming.
And now it is here, and now the real version of the generational hitter has arrived. Soto is poised to become the main soundtrack of the summer for the Mets.
Good things come to those who wait, after all.

In a mouthwatering pitching matchup, RHP Jacob Misiorowski got the better of RHP Paul Skenes, who struckout eight over five scoreless innings
A night after getting ejected, INF Jazz Chisholm Jr. belted a two-run homer to help lead the Yankees to a 7-1 win over the Reds
The Angels completed the sweep over the Red Sox thanks to LHP Yusei Kikuchi’s season-high 12 strikeouts in a 5-2 win
Guardians INF José Ramírez moved into fourth place in franchise history in games played (1,527), before hitting a walk-off single against the Jays to celebrate
Needed last night's game to be able to breathe.
Soto is amazing. Mauricio gets 3 hits probably before getting sent down for Vientos. Dicky Lovelady we hardly knew ya.
