The Mets announced their roster for their Wild Card Series against the Brewers, which begins this afternoon at 5:30 PM ET at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The game will air on ESPN with RHP Luis Severino facing off against RHP Freddy Peralta.
The Mets dropped RHP Tylor Megill from the roster after he pitched in Monday’s playoff-clinching win against the Braves. He is likely not available until at least Friday, a day after a possible third game in the Wild Card Series.
In his place, the Mets added RHP Max Kranick to the playoff roster as a member of their bullpen.
The Mets included LHP David Peterson, who would not pitch on regular rest in this series, as opposed to adding an additional arm to the bullpen. Rather, José Quintana would be available on regular rest should this series go to a third game on Thursday.
That could suggest Peterson would be available in relief during the Wild Card Series, but if he’s used out of the bullpen that would likely take him out of play to start on Saturday, meaning the Mets would be adding back and likely starting Megill on regular rest on Saturday against the Phillies, should the club advance to the next round.
The Mets included both Adam Ottavino and Huascar Brazoban. Both pitched in both games of their doubleheader against the Braves on Monday and could be unavailable today against the Brewers. In addition, Edwin Díaz has worked in back to back days and has thrown over 60 pitches combined, and Phil Maton has worked in three straight games, having thrown 50 pitches combined as well.
