The Mets announced their roster for the National League Championship Series against the Dodgers, which begins this evening at 8:15 PM ET at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The game will air on FOX with RHP Kodai Senga facing off against RHP Jack Flaherty.
The most notable addition to the roster is Jeff McNeil, who hasn’t played since September 6 due to a fractured wrist after being hit by a pitch from Reds pitcher Brandon Williamson. McNeil hit .238/.308/.354 with 12 home runs and 44 RBI on the season, but was hitting .289/.376/.547 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 20 RBI in 41 games since the All-Star Game before getting injured.
McNeil spent Friday and Saturday playing with the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League, playing both second base and right field while recording two hits and an RBI over the two games.
The Mets have retained Luisangel Acuña on the playoff roster, meaning the Mets have chosen to go with one less pitcher, thereby removing Adam Ottavino from the roster. Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza had said in recent days they could choose this route over going with the extra pitcher such as Ottavino, that which has gone unused so far in the playoffs. With Tylor Megill and David Peterson now members of the bullpen and the Mets not needing a fifth starter in the postseason, Ottavino became expendable.
Players can always be added in the event of an injury upon approval from Major League Baseball, but the injured player would then be ineligible to return for the World Series.
Major League Baseball also announced the entire schedule for the National League Championship Series:
Game 1 (FOX): Sunday, 10/13 - 8:15 PM ET @ Los Angeles Game 2 (FOX/FS1): Monday, 10/14 - 4:08 PM ET @ Los Angeles Game 3 (FS1): Wednesday, 10/16 - 8:08 PM ET @ New York Game 4 (FS1): Thursday, 10/17 - 8:08 PM ET @ New York Game 5 (FS1): Friday, 10/18 - 5:08 PM ET @ New York* Game 6 (FS1): Sunday, 10/20 - 8:08 PM ET @ Los Angeles* Game 7 (FOX/FS1): Monday, 10/21 - 8:08 PM ET @ Los Angeles*
