The Mets announced their roster for their Wild Card Series against the Phillies, which begins this afternoon at 4:08 PM ET at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The game will air on FOX with RHP Kodai Senga facing off against RHP Zack Wheeler.
The most notable addition to the roster is Senga, who is coming off the 60-day injured list to make only his second start in 2024, his last coming on July 26 when he threw 5.1 innings against the Braves and allowed two runs with nine strikeouts before having to leave with a high grade calf strain.
He had missed the entire season until that date with a capsule strain in his right shoulder, and has not appeared in a major league game since.
Neither Senga or Mendoza said on Friday how long Senga could go in this game.
In addition, Mendoza said both Tylor Megill and David Peterson would be available out of the bullpen on Friday. Megill was not on the roster for the Wild Card Series against the Brewers.
Senga and Megill will replace Max Kranick and Huascar Brazoban on the roster.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Senga, the Mets transferred Paul Blackburn to the 60-day injured list.
Joy to the world! LET'S GO METS!!
