"Cora and Hinch are back in the league." Okay, they're with teams that are either really good (the Sox) or don't care (Detroit). Also, you can say a one-year sabbatical is not a punishment.

Beltran may eventually get a job managing a team. But why the Mets? Isn't there enough crap going on with this team that they don't need the outside issues Beltran will shine the bright light on? The Mets are reeling from a pervasive front office problem and a million injuries. Say what you want about Luis Rojas as a manager, but he's a boring dude that will never be the center of attention on this team. Beltran is not a must-have upgrade that can overcome the Astros drama.

I personally think that the Mets can't afford to bring in Beltran. The franchise has had so many "scandals" of late with the Front Office and managers that the optics (fair or not) of hiring Beltran would be too much in my opinion.

Why can’t they bring in an established manager (Showalter, Terry C, Dusty Baker type) and have Beltran as the bench coach to get his managerial feet wet and coax him back into the league?
