Excited to see Sproat. I don’t think he’ll be as good as McLean or Tong. I think his issues are similar to Christian Scott’s where he struggles against lefties. .750 OPS against lefties in AAA isn’t great. But he cannot be worse than Senga or Manaea. It’s the right move imo.
I see it this way, too: Sproat won't be a true front-line starter until he can get lefties out. But with the shape we're in, by all means let's give him a chance.
And let's dispense with the six-man rotation, too. We did that to build around Senga, but that's like building a fortress on foundation made of glass.
It's also just a little too long between starts for guys to stay sharp, and you don't want to throw an extra bullpen between starts and waste ammo just to try and maintain feel.
Let’s see what the kid can do. The Mets are 2-2 so far. It’s been a weird season and maybe they get lucky here. What’s happening with Manaea? Is he going to piggyback Holmes? Going to the IL? They can easily use it with him as the bone spurs are documented. I’d be surprised if Senga goes down and honestly if he doesn’t they should look to trade him over the winter. He would get a good haul with the time left on his contract.
About time. Now send Senga down or DL for a leg issue - he is not driving off his leg properly since his calf injury this summer.
He didn't injure calf this summer.

It's the best they can do at this point - cobble together a pitching staff and hope for a miracle. Otherwise, it's a first round exit in the playoffs.
I look forward to watching him. Need something to compete with football!
Mets claim Wander Suero from Braves
Wikipedia notes " In five appearances for Atlanta, he struggled to an 11.37 ERA with seven strikeouts across 6+1⁄3 innings pitched."
Better than Torrens, on a par with Helsley.
