Well that was depressing to read but it matches the eye test. If it is actually a hitting philosophy issue that provides some encouragement. I thought we’d hit less HRs this year but we’d score a ton because we’d have a lineup of all good hitters. Oops.
A few teams that I expected more of are starting badly. The news has some firings over at the Red Sox. Are the Phils okay? Astros?
I figure a split today is fairly likely, though they should win both games given the competition. But the Rockies overall 5-5 in their last ten. Is Senga due for a good game?
Whether we want to admit it or not, the Rockies got tangibly better this winter. Don’t forget Lorenzen has a no-hitter in his recent history, and he had a good WBC. Quintana wasn’t a scrub after he left Queens, and Dollander is a legitimate prospect who’s figuring stuff out. They also added some solid veteran bats like Eddy Julien, Jake McCarthy, etc. that def will pay dividends over time. Add all that to a revamped org and a new manager, I’m not all that shocked Colorado actually looks okay
Yes. Mets fans are laying it on a bit thick to emphasize how bad they think the Mets did over the weekend. The team is credible. 0-3 was still obviously bad.
Stearns fire anybody? Lmfao. Mendy bench anyone? ROFL. Vientos blowing off that stop sign should have led to him being removed from the game and sitting the next and possibly today. Mendy holds nobody accountable. Which is why we have guys just doing what they want. It’s quite possible it’s that way through the line up and why there’s no cohesion and seemingly no game plan or why one cannot be implemented. Hefner and Richardson are doing just fine in Atlanta. Chaos isn’t a winning formula.
I expect McLean to have a great outing today but I’m going to take the under for sure. Q is on the bump for the Rockies and I’m betting he wants to show Stearns he still has plenty left in his tank. Of course I expect the pen to come in and make it a nail biter in game one. Senga getting a shot in game two. He hasn’t pitched in how long? I’m going to bet he throws a gem as he can’t take the ball every 5th day but at this point who the hell knows.
I was just thinking of great organizations, past and present. The Ripken era of Baltimore was famed for 'The Oriole Way' which was the CORRECT way to approach & play a disciplined game. The Dodgers are a legendary organization. The Braves have been doing it right for 35 years. St. Loius Cardinals had Red Schoendienst who provided stability & coaching acumen. Sparky Anderson & Joe Torre didn't put up with nonsense. Its a philosophy that transcends GM's & coached. For 2 years I've seen Met players do bonehead plays in the field & baserunning blunders. They need a disc iplinarean and organizer who employs teachers of hitting/pitching. Mendoza not afraid to send players down to minors but he's got to discipline/tain the ones he's got here.
Mets making Q look like Cy Young. The lineup was a joke to begin with. Pham shouldn’t have ever been signed. I think I have to take a break from this team for awhile.
Bull Belichek made perfectly clear what was expected of HIS football players and held them accountable. Mental mistakes were NOT tolerated ...players were released or benched on Mondays....of course they were well trained.
Semien and Bichette are two of the big problems. Including them in a "let's give credit" discussion is comical.
What's most irritating is that, after the rout on opening day, Mendy spent a lot of time in the post-game presser talking about their "new approach" at the plate. That supposed new approach -- seeing a lot of pitches, for example -- apparently ended after opening day. Alvarez, for example, continues to swing for the fences nearly every at bat. So let's hit him third.
This is a terribly constructed team, with Stearns bringing in guys who are on the downside like Semien and Polanco. So it's totally shocking that they either aren't any good or are injured.
Bichette’s leading the team in hits, doubles, and RBIs. He’s also the only Met with multiple three-hit games this season so yeah, he gets credit. Semien’s also been swinging a better bat, but being hopeful for results off data admittedly only gets us so far. He’s a miss; Bichette isn’t imo. Instead of Semien, I should’ve shined light on Carson Benge’s recent improvement. At the end of the day, though, no one’s hitting well. Looking for positives wherever they might exist.
The lack of plate discipline and overly aggressive (bad) swing decisions is destroying this team; Bichette’s definitely got a swing and miss issue, but he’s also one of the only guys producing consistently despite the losing. We’re in agreement that Alvy especially should needs to rein it in, as he’s generating a good amount of walks when he’s patient, but given he leads the team in OPS and homers I also don’t mind him being a bit more aggressive.

"Let’s explore why there’s been so much suckage in Queens lately:"
Did we just become BFFS?!?

It's possible that right NOW the Rockies are as good or better than the Mets??
Be silly for me to say “no” now, right?

Yup, absolutely disagreement there; this team is a truly horrific product right now.
I meant the Rockies are credible.
I just feel terrible for them...just gotta play out of it

Since Vientos has below average speed, he's the last guy who should disregard a stop sign .
Bull Belichek made perfectly clear what was expected of HIS football players and held them accountable. Mental mistakes were NOT tolerated ...players were released or benched on Mondays....of course they were well trained.
Buck wouldn’t have tolerated it. It’s possible Vientos never has ‘24 either.
Noticed that Lambert got smacked again.
So he’d fit right in up here! Lol

Please, I pray Senga doesn't get shelled today..
