Spot on analysis of Vientos. He needs to become consistent and seize this opportunity.

I think at this point Vientos (and Alvarez and Baty) are what they are. Very streaky hitters who show flashes from time to time. I hope I’m wrong

Its been 3 years or so right...so you are correct Steve. Some players bloom in mid career, some explode on the scene like Acuna, and some may shine later in career. Can anybody name some?? How vital is a hitting coach & and organizational wide hitting philosophy??? I'm not impressed with the Mets development of hitters, though Benge had been a pleasant surprise.

Hidden (or maybe not so hidden) stat for Vientos and Alvarez: GIDP. How many potential rallies or even single run opportunities killed so far this season?

An entire seasons worth of DPs for these 2 guys. Are they NOT taught to advance runners by hitting to the right side....or bunt?? It's the same cr*p over & over again.

And as poorly as this team has started off this season, the team is one decent run from picking up 6 games and joining the post season wild card party. Not a fan of the current lineup configuration. Benge would lead off, perhaps Simien 2 , Bichette would be 3, Soto 4. Vientos 5, Baty 6, Alverez 7, RF 8, and Torrens 9.

Vientos is modern day Dave Kingman.
