I like the Bader move too. He was here last year and knows there’s unfinished business. It looks like Stearns is staying away from the top of the prospect pool with his trades and I feel he has a plan for most of the kids not here yet. I dunno if a top line starter is coming. I’ve said it for awhile now I’m done with the Megil as a starter experiment and he should be transitioned to the pen. His brother is the closer now for the Brewers and having a great season. Megil should now follow that path or he could be a trade piece. Until he proves otherwise. In Stearns I trust. Let’s get the sweep with Senga today. Thankfully the game is at 7 although it’s on ESPN with those idiots who I can’t stand listening to. LGM
I never understood why he left the Mets anyway. The Mets let players escape....3rd base wouldn't be a problem if they had just kept Wilmer, who is having a great year with Giants. Lugo was another unforced error as Mets shoukd have let him be a starter like he wanted.....which is what Mets need now. Why did Wheeler escape?? It's like the Mets are on a spinning wheel not advancing.
Wheeler was a different owner which Cohen would’ve never allowed. Bader wasn’t offered or if he was Minny gave him more plus more playing time. Wilmer? Idk.
I like the idea of Bader. He’d be an upgrade. Remember last season though when he lost playing time to Taylor because Taylor was hitting better. Robert intrigues me still depending on the cost. 2 more years of team options seems like something Stearns would like.
Last night was the kind of game that is needed for a championship season. Solid starting pitching, a clutch hit, great defense ( and don't underestimate how Soto played the ball off the wall in the 9th, and a solid pen. Very impressive
Everyone’s raving about how great Nimmo has been, but let’s be honest—his main strategy is to take the first two pitches and hope for a 2-0 count so he can draw a walk. More often than not, he ends up in an 0-2 hole. Case in point: yesterday, bases loaded, and he watches three pitches go by without lifting the bat. Infuriating.
He’s not as consistent as people make him out to be. If you actually tally it up, he kills more rallies with weak popouts to left than he delivers in clutch moments. Sure, he gets on base—but how often does he do it when it matters?
That said, ironically, he’s still better than most of the inconsistent bunch that rounds out the rest of the lineup. If the Mets’ pitching doesn’t hold strong, we can forget about October.
I didn't want to lose Bader to begin with, so I'm fine with bringing him back. 😉
Luis Robert Jr. is an intriguing prospect. He's most certainly the poster boy for change of scenery, but that always worries me. After all, if you play for the sake of the game, you're going to play the same wherever you are. Or at least you should. In theory.
And it's worth noting, his batting average has gone down every year since 2021. His slash line in general has been trending downward all along, except for an anomalous bump in 2023 (and even then, nothing reached his peak from two years earlier) and a slight uptick in his OBP this season over last.
It's a markedly steady decline. And at a time when he should be trending the other way as he enters his prime.
Regarding Bader, I can't see saying that someone batting .250 is having a "fantastic season". He's a very average player and I don't see what the enthusiasm is about. Far more important to get another quality reliever. About last night, Alonso has always had a good glove...too bad his throwing is atrocious. Diaz didn't have it, but luck was on his side. If Vientos has turned the corner, it's big for this team. And if Alvarez and Baty can become even average hitters, we may be in good shape.

I'd stay away.
Great game yesterday. The Mets are track stars all of a sudden...love it!
