Thanks for putting a word in for Stearns, who gets more grief than I think he deserves. Montas was his only really bad decision. A lot of this year's disappointment was nobody's fault , just players that didn't perform. Regarding Skenes: IF he can be signed long term, I'd trade anybody not named McLean to get him. Note to Uncle Steve: pony up for Bellinger!
It’s so easy to play the blame game in the wake of this season ending the way it did, but the “Stearns disasterclass” narrative never made sense to me. Championships aren’t won with year-to-year game plans, and trading away an uncertain future to attempt to satisfy an uncertain present is bad business, imo.
(Also love the Belli idea, tbh – that’s a situation where trading Benge becomes conceivable, especially with Ewing tearing it up and positioning himself as a primary OF…or you lean into Benge’s corner OF profile, look to trade Acuña and lean into UTIL Ewing…lots of options)
Considering all that went down in '25, and the serious roller coaster rides we Mets fans have benn on over the past five (or more!) seasons, you give us something to hold on to. Hope. #LFGM
I wish he’d actually gotten to throw after his call up, but I understand why they didn’t roll him out there given the circumstances. Definitely another significant weapon to watch, I’ll rave about him sooner than later I’m sure
It’s encouraging that the Mariners drafted Watson. They know pitching. No doubt some of these guys get traded but it’s nice to finally have a good farm system!
My hope is that these guys surviving this year’s deadline is an indicator that the org sees them as ‘untouchables,’ even if not explicitly. I fully expected Watson to go instead of Tidwell honestly; their profiles aren’t too dissimilar, but I think Watson offers a bit more upside. Fingers crossed my delusion doesn’t let me down this year!

That’s what I always aim for! If the numbers give me a foothold, I’m digging all the way in. We’ve earned the optimism (cautious as it may be)
