Not that it's wrong, but It's easier emotionally to say it's Stearns' fault or Mendoza's fault. At least for me, what hurts the most is discovering that one after another of our talented prospects are not turning out as we hoped: Vientos, Baty, Mauricio. Even Alvarez hasn't made good on the promise he showed. For that matter, Acuna has zero extra base hits on the season, Jett Williams is batting .223 in AAA, and Sproat has been mostly bad. It appears that all of these players were overhyped and we bought into it. Getting Myers for Sproat and Williams looks like a steal at this point with Peralta as gravy. Time will tell.
Reference to Peralta giving up three unearned runs, but then his line had him giving up one run.
Some of the changes were fine. Diaz apparently wanted to leave. Nimmo was most questionable. A major problem was that the replacements were often questionable. Injury-prone. Out of position. Plus, you needed a real replacement at 1B. And starting pitching issues only partially addressed.
The players are largely to blame, but a whole new coaching staff, new positions, and so on were going to be hard without careful leadership, too.
Anyway, that was a game they had to win. That they lost it shows it isn't just bad hitting.
Was at yesterday’s game. Left with them up 4-3. Note: with Soto on 1st, game tied, no outs, Melendez actually successfully sac-bunted Soto to 2nd. Soto then easily scored on the Vientos double. This was Melendez’s first at bat following his homer. Bunting - successful bunting, that is - has fallen out of favor. Maybe more small ball is needed.
It was his fault the Mets didn't get him. They made him a great offer but he chose to shop it. When he finally got back to the Mets, the Mets had to move on due to the allocation of coach benefits. The coach tried to play the Mets and it didn't work out. The Mets were not to blame and the coach could have gotten more money from the Mets if he didn't play games with them.
I lose track of all the complications. I will grant the point for the argument. Either way, they could use someone to teach these guys baserunning skills.
All I know is this whole team and their suckness is getting very old. In articles, pod casts, posts, private conversations and/or whatever its the same conversation of who sucks more and who should get fired. Here we are on May 1st, I believe its time to have e serious conversations (led mostly by the organization) and action to set this team up for the future, past 2026 and 2027. They suck talk is just going to drive us insane. WFAN suggested a Lindor/Harper trade. Would that help moving forward?
"horrible-ness"??? "that which they are clearly not cool with"??? "But this roster should be able to out-perform short and even medium-term absences"??? A player can out-perform another player, etc., but you can't "outperform" an absence. You can overcome it, though. Mr. Gallagher, are you out there?

And Alonso is below the "Not Carlos Mendoza Line" in Baltimore.

So has running full speed when you hit a grounder.
They had a coach who taught them well, base-running-wise. He's gone.

That picture of Mauricio in your article sums up the “Baby Mets” perfectly
Fire Mendoza. Period.
Isn't just him. So, I would use "comma" or "semicolon."
