Michael - you know I admire you guys at Just Mets. But I have a suggestion I hope will be taken seriously and with kindness. Please have someone read your post before you submit. You used the prhase "I am not saying" three times in the space of about five sentences.

It's 2026. Copyediting/proofreading has gone the way of the stick shift. Last week we had "allude" for "elude" and "meddle" for "mettle" (different author).

What do you mean the Phils "totally punted" the game? Their starter apparently is in the mix for the last spot in the rotation, ok. That's part of baseball, not much of a punt. Did they rest their best position players? No. Please tell us how the Phils totally punted.

The word "punt" also offers a vague resemblance to the case that yesterday's Mets win was a "fake win". Look, nobody is expecting a miraculous 45-20 run in the back half of the season to get to 85 wins and a possible postseason berth. But if it DOES happen, you can easily trace to this game as a reminder: "oh wait, this team wasn't so bad. They had a season from Hell. They've crawled back!"
