Tough to be a writer covering this team now, I would think. Gotta be a worst nightmare. As a fan, what’s to watch? No superstar in the making rookies, no Gooden debuts and a team that genuinely stinks. It’s summer with plenty of other things to do.

I'd quibble that both Benge and Ewing may well be stars in the making, if not superstars. But you're right, I don't envy the writers covering this team.

The Mets, when the opposition is held to 5 or fewer runs, have been programmed by David Stearns to score 1 less. Of course, the Mets' new run prevention system forces errors and unearned runs to complicate David's system, but the team has learned to overcome. The plans are in full stride.

I dunno. I think Taylor is very much of a known quantity and should be traded for the best available deal. Good glove no hit outfielders can always be found inexpensively. If you need bodies what with Soto being out, bring up Morabito. I think we've already seen that Pache and Melendez are not going to be contributors to a winning team. Can someone please tell me why Mauricio isn't getting playing time in the bigs? He's hitting lately in Syracuse but regardless, It's a perfect time to see what he's got and if he still is basically finished once he gets two strikes, then send him away like they're going to do with Vientos. Semien can sit in favor of Mauricio.

He can be the DH. His fielding is subpar as well

The Semien trade is really looking not smart. The only good to come of it is that if we still had Nimmo we wouldn't have found out that Ewing is a player. Semien wouldn't be such a hot DH. I see Polanco is hitting .154 and has, get this--4 rbis on the year. Luis Robert 10 and Lindor 16. That's pathetic. It's my fond hope that Cohen's voiced support of Stearns is window dressing and he sends him packing. The stability thing is a consideration but doesn't outweigh everything else.

Minor league question: Presuming that Brooklyn is going to stay as their A+ ball affiliate, it has a reputation for killing hitters. Would moving in a fence or two help. I remember being at a game their years ago and Todd Frazier hit a rocket off the fence in left center. Thought it would have been out of most places. OR are the Mets A ball hitters that bad.

Also, I see Parada has stopped hitting again. Send him AAA and see if that helps (he certainly had better results the last time he was there.)
