  • The Mets defeated the Marlins 9-3 on Monday at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter (Box)

  • Tylor Megill - a candidate to replace José Quintana in the rotation in the first half of the season - pitched four scoreless innings, while allowing just three hits and a walk with three strikeouts

  • Max Scherzer pitched in a minor league game in Jupiter and allowed five runs - three earned - over three innings

  • Jeff Brigham and Jimmy Yacabonis - two candidates for the final bullpen spot - each delivered scoreless outings for the Mets

  • Darin Ruf had a positive day at the plate with a 2-for-3 afternoon, and Tomás Nido hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning


Injury Updates 🏥

  • OF Starling Marte (hit by a pitch in the head) is expected to return to the lineup today or tomorrow

  • RHP Bryce Montes De Oca (forearm) was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his forearm, and has been shutdown from throwing. There is no structural damage in his elbow

  • LHP José Quintana (stress fracture in rib) will arrive back at camp today and the Mets will have more information on his condition this week. He could miss up to three months but Mets GM Billy Eppler said on Monday such a conclusion was still, “premature.”
