It's been awhile, hasn't it?
It’s been almost six years since Just Mets closed up shop. It really does feel like yesterday the Mets were taking flight on their pennant run during the summer of 2015 in what truly became a storybook season.
It was sure fun to help tell that story through the many voices which contributed to that iteration of Just Mets.
In all of the time that has passed since, neither Rich or I ever lost an ounce of our vigor or passion for the club we tirelessly covered on a daily basis throughout 2015 on that site. We were really disappointed that project came to and end, and we’ve spent a lot of time since putting our heads together to try to find a way to effectively and meaningfully do this again. After all, we like writing about the Mets, we have our own discussions about the Mets which never end, and that along with everyone else in this community we interact with on a daily basis has motivated us to reboot and start fresh, albeit a few years later.
So with that in mind, Rich and I are really excited to announce we are re-launching Just Mets.
Just Mets is going to be just that — news, updates, breakdowns and stories about the New York Mets, trimming the fat without any of the B.S. and noise. It’s only going to be everything you need to know heading into the day about the club, and that’s it.
We are starting off slow, though.
Starting this fall, Just Mets will be served up as a daily newsletter while we put the finishing touches on a full-fledged site - that will be complete later in the year. The site will follow the same spirit outlined above: a one-stop shop about the Mets in a similar but more concise way to the original site.
But we aren’t going at this alone, either.
We're also excited to share Linda Surovich and Justin Means will be joining the writing staff. Linda has spent the last several years writing for SB Nation’s Amazin’ Avenue as well as serving as a co-host for the ‘A Pod of Their Own’ podcast while Justin has written for outlets such as BP Mets, Metsmerized and Yardbarker.
Once more, we really want to thank you all for the support you've shown us over the years. Neither Rich or I would have a place in this community without you. We genuinely enjoy talking and writing about the Mets and being on this incredible, albeit crazy journey. While this season has proven turbulent and disappointing to this point, this ownership group has the organization on the right path, even if it’s going to take a little extra time to reach the endpoint.
We look forward to getting to that end together. #LGM
