Maybe they shouldn't have fired the pitching coach who get NLCS-quality level pitching out of many of the same pitchers two seasons ago.

That's two years ago. As I recall that same pitching coach didn't exactly weave any magic on last year's starting staff or mitigate the Ryan Helsley disaster.

How had Hefner done with Canning before he got hurt? Was Hefner responsible for Senga getting clobbered by Pete? Manaea's injury? Megill's injury? Reed Garrett? Kranick? Raley? Should I go on?

Neither Hefner nor Stearns are responsible for those injuries. Or this year's injuries, either. But where was Hefner's magic when Peterson collapsed in the second half? Brazoban is another guy that was great in the first half and ended up getting sent down later in the year. Look at Hensley now and last year? Does that prove that his current pitching coach is great and Hefner's a dud? Don't think so. You'll recall, btw, that Senga was injured when he came down awkwardly on first base after jumping to catch Alonso's high throw. Alonso didn't touch him, let alone clobber him. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKz7w1USGQD/?hl=en

It's easy to criticize Stearns and he deserves some of it. Is he responsible for Peralta performing far worse than last year? For Holmes's injury? Exactly who would you have liked him to have signed? Framber Valdez is not exactly killing it. Do you like the Ranger Suarez deal 5 years 130M?

The Peralta game was the game to win the series. Yesterday was a mismatch, though you hoped it was Peterson of old, where they had a shot. Next up: does Senga have anything left?

Finally coming to the realization that, similar to last year, their biggest issue was starting pitching.

Who is the worst GM.....Chris Drury or Stearns? Neither one has a focused vision of what they want their teams to look like do they. It all seems haphazard. How in the hay does a major league team enter a season with guys playing positions they've never played before? That's an experiment that will NOT be replicated in baseball. It's a toxic notion now. Nice try tho David.
