They lost eleven in a row. A star player FINALLY had a clutch hit. It was 3-0. They are playing basically a .500 team. The Mets had to win the game. That's the mentality.

It's participation prize material. I know this is unfair on some level, to praise McLean for going 6.2 and giving up three. That is not even a "quality start." Yes, long-term, great outing. But an ace had to shut down the Twins. Maybe in time he will.

Yes, he wasn't really the biggest person to blame. Other than Lindor's HR, they got three hits. Off mediocre pitching. Their "closer" was horrible. Nice Houdini job by Warren.

In a Mets Classic game, they would have built off that and tied it in the 9th. Oh well.

BTW, the Phils have one more win than the Mets. FWIW.

I agree that it’s not Mendy’s fault but I also think the team needs a fire lit and the easiest way to do that is to fire the manager. Why hasn’t there been a players only meeting? That saved our 2024.

I don't buy the "it's not Mendy's fault." We don't say that when they do good.

Firing the manager when it is significantly not his fault is not "fair," but as you suggest, there are limited things they can do. Another is to let one of the problem child starters go as a message.

The Mets would have to go 80-60 to be in the mix at the end of the season. I don’t see that happening. A total tear down should happen and maybe that’s what Stearns had in mind the whole time? It’s time to send Baty down the farm with the possibility he never comes back and will part of a trade. Vientos at this point I DFA him. Let someone else have faith he can get back to ‘24 Swaggy V. Bring up Clifford the big red dog and Mauricio and play them daily. Benge needs to go back down to figure out his swing. He changed it over the summer and it clearly doesn’t work at the big league level. Semien doesn’t deserve daily play time. Leadoff??? wtf is Mendy doing? McLean is the new deGrom. Perfect for 5. Yes, gave up the 2 run shot. I was actually shocked Brazoban didn’t allows the guy at third to score and tie it up as his penchant for allowing inherited runners to score is almost automatic. This team is just not good. Stearns deserves the blame for it. I don’t think he will get fired though. It’s why he kept Mendy around and got rid of everyone else. He has a scapegoat in Mendy. I like Mendy. I really do. He seems like the nicest guy who loves his family. Supposedly, he has his sons at the field as much as he can but being a nice guy isn’t what counts in a results based business. He just has to go and Stearns needs to get on the phone and start making moves. There is plenty that other teams would covet and get back some real good prospects. Reset and push for 2028. Soto needs to be on board with it as his walks are going to be insane during it. This team hasn’t done a serous reset since the late 90’s. You gotta see what you got in the minors as there is talent down there for the first time in a very long time. The fans I think would accept it too as kids growing and making mistakes is better than watching this.

Just saw your comments about Baty, Clifford and Mauricio (after I posted the same).

I'm more down on Baty than on Vientos. At least the latter guy has a nickname!

Support from a team that has under-acheived is not something that is a positive. While it is not all his fault, he has done nothing to exclude him from taking the fall for the teams bad play under his "leadership".

It would have been nice to have signed Murakami, but what do I (or did Stearns) know?

What about promoting Mauricio and Clifford now—both raging hot at Syracuse (and sending Baty down there)? And how about promoting Ewing to AAA too!
