Another enjoyable piece. This past winter there was a large gaggle of people clamoring to get rid of Marte, trade him for the proverbial bag of balls, etc. Slow and an albatross in the field, they said. Turning the page, I'll admit I thought Holmes was toasted, good for him. Now, if Senga and Manea could only find their previous selves...speaking of players who many wanted to dump, now it looks like the Mets were smart to be patient with Vientos. The guy can hit. He looked pathetic earlier this year. Baty's last two homers were rockets, I don't recall his power being hyped as he was coming up. Finally, I can't resist pointing out that the big disappointment/punching bag named Soto leads the Mets and is 3rd in the majors in that old-fashioned stat "runs scored"...there's a rumor that the team with the most runs scored wins the baseball game.
Great. The Mets are finally doing what they should be doing against shitty teams. The Braves are playing out the string and whatever this Mets team winds up doing is supposed to be fighting for playoff seeding. I’m not going to get excited over Holmes doing his job finally. He got paid to be a starting pitcher and 6 innings is what any starting pitcher should be looking to complete as 7+ is something that usually gives your team a win. Great play by Marte as he still has that great arm because that was a bullet from left that wound up being a strike nailing Alvarez jr. it only took Vientos 3/4 of a season to finally hit. Does he get a 4 year deal now? Is this what we get yearly as we hope and pray he does what he did his first year? There have been plenty of big leaguers who made careers off of a monster year that never get replicated but it offers hope to the fan base. It was great to see some football. No matter how crappy the games were.
Maybe, just maybe the pieces are falling back in place! It's that time when it all is on the line. I would still cherry pick the starters from the minors to add to the rotation.
Who knew Truist Park could be such a fun Place?

It's amazing to me the amount of data is included ......excellent analysis that extrapolate on the data....how it relates to on field performance.
Yeah, Soto should be leading off and Lindor in the #2.

I'd love to see Marte's 2025 stats broken down by season halves. I bet his post-All Star Game numbers look pretty darn good.
First half: .270/.353/.387, 4 HR, 20 RBI, 5 SB, .739 OPS (58 games)
Second half: .345/.387/.655, 4 HR, 6 RBI, 2 SB, 1.042 OPS (17 games)
