In the aftermath of trading Brandon Nimmo, there's a lot of buzz around the Mets looking to trade off parts and add big new ones as the off-season starts to take shape.
Well, there is now a new hole in leftfield that needs to be filled. Along with the hole in centerfield. and at first base. and the back-end of the bullpen. and the middle of the bullpen. and the front of the rotation. LMAO
Going after Bichette now doesn't make as much sense. Bichette was declining at SS. 2b would serve him better than third, I guess. Tucker and/or Bellinger seems to be another massive contract (money and length) to add to Soto, Lindor, possibly Alonso and Diaz. And this is why I love the off-season!!
Everyone keeps talking around the locker room issues last year. Hint they were there, talk about bringing in strong clubhouse guys, but not saying what the issue was. C'mon guys either tell us the whole story or none of it. Ottavino touched on issues, but... who knows if Otto is full of it or not. It is worse saying nothing and letting the public determine what they think the issues were, because right now Brandon Nimmo is getting the leader in the clubhouse cancer vote. with McNeil and Alonso also in there.
Imo, we have to think they'll resign Alonso and Diaz. Besides that, given this trade, they must go hard for Bellinger or Tucker. Seems unrealistic to think they'll sign another big FA like Bregman or Bichette.
I don't think Semien, Gold Glove and all, is $25 million better than having Acuno at 2B. That $$ could be better spent.
You may be right. The trade only makes sense if they sign Bellinger or Tucker, which I fervently hope they do.
locking into having a 35 year old second baseman and a 32 year old shortstop for the next 2-3 years is curious.
I think it's more about what this opening in the outfield allows them to do now vs. focusing so much on Semien himself. Time will tell, though!

Let’s see what they do first and judge accordingly. It’s still quite early!
What is your beef with Lindor?
lindor did not have a great season defensively (negative DRS, 60th in Outs Above Average, 15th out of all shortstops).
When I watched him, which wasn't every day, I thought he was great.
the statistics tell a different story.
