This is destined to be the most inconsequential comment of the day, and likely many other days ... but I've grown weary of seeing occasions such as Mr Smiles flashing his famous beam immediately after hitting into a rally killing double play with the bases loaded; of greeting many opposing players to 2nd base with a smile and a man hug. I think it was last year when Pete broke his bat in 2 over his knee on the way back to the dugout after a strikeout. Maybe that's the other extreme, but is way more welcome to me when I'm poised to throw my remote through the TV.

Very much with you on this! It has been SOOOOO frustrating to watch this team. Don’t know how much more I can take before I give up. They’re like the walking dead out there.

Pete doesn't like to focus on the negative.

Nimmo seems like a positive guy, but when he is strugglin,g it shows on his face.

I forget which Guardian it was who managed a hit by just sticking his bat out on a pitch way out of the zone last night—but that’s the kind of situational hitting the Mets never seem to do. McNeil used to be that guy when he won the batting title—short, smart swings that found grass. Now it’s all big hacks and big misses.

Nimmo, too, until he realized he could reach the seats

He's been atrociously bad of late.

I wasn’t someone who thought we needed a starter with McLean and Sproat banging at the door. It’s always been the hitting and that’s what we needed. Another bat. We rank 22nd in hits well behind the other playoff contenders. We’re the worst hitting team of the contenders by a large amount. So frustrating

"Rudderless" is the work that keeps popping up in my head every time I check the games. Whose fault is it? I think it depends on the day, but ultimately everyone has played a role: players, manager, coaches, GM...

Need to make A change somewhere. Bring up a pitcher. Change the batting order. I would bring in a new batting coach. Can’t keep doing the same thing and getting nowhere. Sit some guys . The knew they needed a bat and brought in another.200 hitter . Seems a guy can hit .230 and everyone is content.

Paralysis through analysis. I'm more sure of it than ever. And not only is it causing us to be behind everything at the plate — you just can't think that fast out on the field, it's too late for that — but by all appearences it's taking the fun out of the game for the guys.

Analytics are great for the front office, and great for the coaching staff too if used properly (meaning to identify trends). But don't share it with the players. Tell a hitter they're swinging through fastballs in the zone 32 percent of the time and they'll quickly be doing it 42 or 52 percent of the time.

A coach's job is to use that information to figure out the adjustment, and then just share that.

And for crying out loud, put away the iPads in the dugout, at least for the hitters. It's the wrong visual perspective unless the viewpoint is from the catcher's mask. You're not seeing the pitches the same way. And if you're using the side view to fix a mechanical flaw, it's a) too late to do it during the game, and b) see above.

Baseball is a kid's game. Make it fun again. When it's fun, the guys will hit.

I saw Soro quite often when he was a National, and he NEVER let a pitch down the middle slide by him.. He IS swinging and missing often. Maybe it's human nature? He's not even 30 and signed a 754 MILLION $$ contract?? Maybe the hunger isn't there?

And McNeill DOES seem to have a golf swing in batters box.

Soto seems to be dissecting every pitch instead of getting in the batter's box and letting his natural ability take over. He gives the appearance of wanting to be the umpire and the batter; to be able to call his own at bat.

The Mets should bring up Yanny Hernandez for a spark. Play him at third base where there is nobody taking that spot. Also Sterling Matte should be DH almost every game. Vientos who is out of options should sit with Taylor. Baty sent down again. Plug in Mauricio into DH role and third occasionally then occasionally move Marte to the corner and sit the high paid outfielders and occasionally sit McNeil in favor of Hernandez. My two cents.

I think it’s time to bring Jonah Tong and Carson Benge to AAA. This could be soon followed by Nolan McLean or Brandon Sproat to the big leagues.

The Mets are lucky that other teams are also struggling. The Phils can easily have a much bigger lead. In some other season, the Mets wouldn't have a wild card spot now. Atlanta would.

There are at least two teams that are breathing down the Yanks' necks now. The closest to the Mets now are the Reds, and that by a few games. That doesn't erase the Mets' struggles, but it might lead some people to not be as concerned about them.

I know Soto is a superstar and so on, but that salary does make me have higher hopes for the guy. And, yeah, that team needs another starter. Plus, when the Mets made that run in 2015, they picked up bats at the deadline, including a couple of supporting pieces to help them be clutch.

24 days until College Football. There are games earlier but since I’m a Bama fan(and have been since 1975) that’s when the season starts for me. My Mets gear has been stored away already as I don’t see this team making the playoffs and even if they do it won’t be a long run. There needs to be big changes in the off season for a run at a ring that might be the last season for who knows how long with a lockout looming and both sides having their heels dug in right now. It might cost the season even more I’ve been reading. Roll Tide Roll!
