Yeah, they hit 4 HRs ... all with the bases empty. Manny's dinger, however, came with nifty gifts .... 1 runner on via a BB, 1 runner on via a hit batter, 1 runner on via a bunt single. It's been a trend.

Absolutely, the walk and HBP were the point where the wheels started to come off, and it's like that every start by DP now. He looks decent enough, and then he suddenly gets in trouble and gives up the big knock, and just like that the game slips away.

It's the exact opposite of what he was doing the first half. Maybe he's out of gas. Maybe it's a mental thing.

Either way, the hook Machado took him yard on broke right over the heart of the plate, just a really bad pitch, and it came after he started to lose focus and control. It wasn't an isolated mistake. And that's been happening just about every start.

Ref: "Maybe he's out of gas"

The most games he's started in a season was 21 ... he's now at 29. The most innings pitched was 121 ... he's now at 167.

Yep. He's way beyond where he's ever been before. I thought he had gotten over the hump with that terrific start in Washington a month ago, especially since he went to Atlanta and was really good again. But the last four starts have been a disaster.

So, yeah. It really looks like he emptied the tank and he's going on fumes.

Inches away from a possible win. Peterson needs to skip a turn as he hit the wall a month ago. You can't give up 6 runsas a starter and expect a W!

Geez, is Nolan McClean the ace of this staff already? It’s crazy to even be saying that but it sure looks like it. Sure makes you wonder if he should have been called up much sooner. 10 games left and it’s a toss up whether this team has what it takes to clinch. I’m not prognosticating anything after that.

Yes McLean looks great, very poised and solid. No 1 starter next year definitely

I think the Holmes Manaea starter is better, as they can cover 9 innings and NO bullpen help needed. NONE NONE NONE

COMMENTS ON ARTICLES TODAY

JUST NOTICING A DAVID PETERSON PROBLEM. AS IT STARTED ON AUG 1. THIS COMMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MONTH AGO AT LEAST

JUST LIKE MAURICIO SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO AAA ON 8/1, REPLACED BY THE MULTI-TALENTED ACUNA

AND DID SENGA AND MANAEA DESERVE SO MUCH PAST HATE

BATY SUPER HOT AND STILL BATTING 7/8

BATY SHOULD BE BATTING HIGHER THAN MARTE OR VEINTOS, EVERY GAME, UNTIL HE COOLS DOWN

HOW IS ALVEREZ PLAYING WITH HURT HAND

ON HOMERS

LATE INNING HOMERS ARE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN EARLY OR SOLO HOMERS

4 EARLY SOLO HOMERS

BY NONE IN THE VERY IMPORTANT 8 OR 9 INNINGS, WHEN A BUNCH OF MET HOMER TIES UP THE GAME

TOO MANY Ks, BY

ALONSO

NINMO

MARTE

MULLINS

Mets should start the 3 rookies and then use bullpen relievers in those games

and then have have these 4 split 2 games each. So each pitcher knows he has go all out to pitch only 4/5 innings

Especially as all have overpitched or are coming back from injury

Senga Holmes Manaea Peterson

We are left with relying on a small sample size with the rookies. One has looked fantastic. Another has a smaller sample size but has started well. Tong looks more raw.

Holmes seems to be running out of gas, but continues to be able to give you at least a few innings. Maybe after that talking to Mr. M has turned a corner, and can be a tag team.

Peterson helped them build the cushion that they are hanging on to as we get to the final 10 games. He has been struggling. If the others pitch, the team can survive his problems.

Today's game is big for Tong and the Mets. A win would be a two-game cushion. The Diamondbacks have the Phillies, Dodgers, and Padres to play. Ouch.

So Today Veintos hitting 5 and a red hot Baty hitting 7

Also how do you think Baty feels hitting 7, with the light weights Torrens and Mullins, hitting 8/9

I don't have much comment about line-up placement.

Ok But Vientos strikes out 3 out of 4 times up, batting 5th

Just thanks to Nimmo for a mid game 3 run homer, that sealed the game for the Mets

And yes a 3 run homer was key snd not Alonso solo homer in the first. For Alonso only hit today
