Alvy seems to be heading for Palookaville - a bust. Maybe a little trip to upstate NY might bring him back, or is this who he is?

Garrett, Kranick, Stanik & lately Brozaban have been terrible. If he's available, the Mets must get Flanagan from the Nats. A second reliever is vital too.

What terrible situational hitting in the 10th. Why don't they ever bu t the runner over?

Toughest loss of the year. The good news is, we've only had a couple games like this, and even the best teams are going to have a handful of them throughout the year.

Mendy doesn't usually make mistakes like not having Garrett ready at the start of the 8th. Garrett himself doesn't usually let a catcher shake him off. Those two factors — one at the start of the inning, one on the chance to escape with no damage done — probably did more to cost us the game than anything.

The rest was just bad baseball. And I'm not sure what's going on with Alvie; maybe it's something like what happened with Lindor right after the birth of his child? But he had a bad game yesterday, and the way he's struggled at the plate, he can't afford to be a defensive liability, too.

Let's see how we bounce back tonight. If we come out crisp and ready to compete, we're okay. Good character test.

It wasn’t the pitching that cost the Mets last night—it was, once again, their chronic failure to tack on runs. Mauricio and Álvarez still look overmatched at the plate, more like minor leaguers than core pieces. Jared Young, hitting below .200, is running out of time, and while Taylor had a rare good night, he’s usually a rally killer. Nimmo has been a huge disappointment, and the base-running blunders by Soto and Alonso were inexcusable.

Add in the recent pitching downturn and Senga’s injury, and it’s not hard to see how quickly this team could spiral out of first place.

This felt like a game they had to win—a flailing Braves squad nine games under .500, the Mets sitting 18 over. Peterson delivered another strong start, and it should have been an easy win. Instead, the final innings were a meltdown: managerial missteps, poor execution, mental errors, and lifeless situational hitting. Letting Jared Young bat in extras? Letting Álvarez lead the disaster parade again on both sides of the ball?

It’s the same old nightmare in Atlanta. The Mets have talent, but unless they clean up the mistakes and stop relying on two or three guys to carry the offense, they’ll collapse under pressure—again.

Will Blackburn get shelled 2nite on a 3/4 inning outing? What then....send him to pen or AA for more work to fix himself?

Well it has been a fabulous ride, but now some cracks in the foundation are begging to show. The bullpen needs to kick it in gear and get the job done.
