Knowing Vientos was being held on at first and seeing where the ball was hit, I said to my
wife "he's the slowest guy on the team, they're gonna have to hold him at third." I was
astonished at seeing Vientos try to score by running through the stop sign and, of course, being thrown out by at least six feet. Later he openly admitted he saw Leiper's sign, but trusted his intuition.
This team has issues all over the place. Why is Tommy Pham on this roster? We could’ve kept a younger old man in Marte who at least can still hit. It’s time for guys to come up from Syracuse. We have two stud relievers in Lambert and Severino. A righty/lefty combo if I’m not mistaken. DFA Kimbrel and stick Williams in non close situations to hopefully get him right. I’m not even sure that’s possible. I think he’s got the pitching yips and can’t play in NY. Lambert is the AAA closer and he is nasty. High 90’s and is a big dude. If Lindor is going to be out at least 3 weeks you bring up Mauricio and play him EVERY DAY!! You watch though if the kid goes 3 for 4. Mendy will sit him for some unknown reason. He will screw that up somehow. Have to see what you really have in him. With what I saw in Lindor though this looks like a 6 week absence. Got off the schnide at least but the Twins have Ryan on the bump tonite. Not gonna be easy to get two in a row. At least we didn’t lose 13.
In Lambert's last outing he retired two batters and gave up 3 walks. Maybe he's not Mason Miller just yet. And maybe, just maybe, Kimbrel should pitch more than 3 innings before you DFA him...
Another great start by Holmes. 3/5 of our starting staff has been very good and the Myers/Peterson combo looked good. A win was obviously needed but the offense still looked incompetent. I’m ready to send Baty down, DFA Pham and call up Ronnie and Bae/Pache/Morabito.
Glad for the win. Only one negative thing to say. How the heck is Mark Vientos that slow? He might be the slowest base runner in Mets history !!

Yea I know his last outing wasn’t crisp but he still locked it down and Severino has been lights out. Do you need to see Kimbrel lose us a game first?
"...and not a brief mirage in an oasis of misery and bad baseball." Great writing.
