Brilliant Michael.Stability and culture are two words that stick out to me.We waited two years for David Stearns and now the onus is on him to essentially build this organization from scratch.Choose the players he believes are part of the solution and move on from the others.I truly like his choice of Carlos Mendoza as manager. The off the field scouting and development people are now pretty much David’s.I believe in David.100 percent. We as probably the most LOYAL fan base I have ever been around in nearly 69 years of life have to be somewhat patient although the urgency in your article is right on point. No more excuses. This is day one for me as I see how the team and coaching staff react to this embarrassment. No easy answers. It could get much or it could get better.I fully trust the latter will happen. One final thought. Please Mets fans don’t give up.Fuck the bag over the head bullshit. That helps no one. These are your NEW YORK METS and let’s fucking go!!!!!!!
No shock here. Let's all forget the Revisionist History. This was Written in Shea Stone last July, when Cohen pulled the plug on this squad & blew off '23 & '24, to re-engage in '25 w/ a new, yng cast & then grab for the title in '26. 2026!!! This was crushing lst yr & tore the guts out of this current core, openly wasting 2 1/2 yrs of their prime careers. It's your boss telling you to hold the fort until we replace you soon w/ new, exciting performers, thanks! The pall & the stink from SC's stupid reflex move in July still lingers over that building. It's why many of us stopped watching their post-deadline decline. Taking SC at his word, we were ready to not engage again until '25, '26, but remembering revenues, they started cooing about 'competing' this yr -- not winning, mind you -- 'competing.' Yippee, bad baseball's a'coming. All winter they sang songs about the Kids of the Future coming, being coy about 'kinda, sorta' wanting Pete back long term (they don't), & Sterns' decent, smart bench/BP signings stirred some hope. Stearns creating the single best BP in MLB by Opening Day got us excited, along w/ "2022 Diaz IS BACK, baby!!" Until suddenly no SP could throw strikes or go 4+ in Mar/Apr. The BP then got torched horribly from abusive overuse & dumb expectations -- sadly, 2019 Diaz was back, baby; Raley blew out his arm; Smith blew out his arm; Otto got old fast; & the excellent newcomers soared then flagged under the weight of Mendy's misuse -- Apr All-Star Garrett got found out in May & solid Lopez was the last choice left standing & paid the price w/ nearly every day use until his knees buckled & his pitches flattened out under the pressure. Both of their exciting tiny Apr ERAs skyrocketed. All while watching NO ONE on offense stepping up or getting hot & carrying this team -- since Cohen had already ripped out their insides & left them for dead last yr. /// So, yeah, this is a dead team walking, from the top ofc suite to the ballboys. I've been watching this team since Day 1 in 1962, seen ALL the losing, the glorious winning, the overmatched teams, the beloved bad pre-Seaver teams, the wretched but game post-Seaver teams, the Richie Hebner atrocities, the Bleach team, the kiss our asses teams, all of them -- I even knew personally the girl Mets players raped during the David Cone era. Been through it all, seen it all. THIS IS A VERY BAD BASEBALL TEAM. And it all comes down to Steven Cohen, playing hedgefund mgr with his favorite team. As he knows only too well, when you make bad gambles, your stock CRASHES. Like it has now. I do NOT blame Lopez for blowing up & deciding 'GET ME OUTTA HERE!!' in the least. He actually IS too good for this team; he doesn't deserve this mess. Sure, he'll now have trouble getting a job, but his immediate horror show is over & done with...
The starting pitching hasn’t been very good. 5 innings? Too many walks. They need guys to go at least into the 7th. 5 innings and 100 pitches is ridiculous.
U want rest for Lindor and McNeil call up Iglesias already he is raking it at Triple A . I don’t want that ex-Brewer PED infielder that the Whiz Kid signed anywhere near this team - he will have them all on roids !!
Nailed it. The only aspect of the team that’s been good is the starting pitching. It’s primarily the core players and bullpen that have been the problem.
SPs are doing better now, but THEY were the main culprits in Apr. Not one of them could throw strikes or go more than 3 inns all thru Apr. -- which is HOW this BP (a fabulous one out of the shoot that Sterns created) became horribly overtaxed & then crumbled. Just as the SPs begin to stretch it out, too late. This scenario comes down to the rookie mgr who handled his staff horribly & is now stuck w/ it falling apart.
Early on they were essentially a .500 team with a starting staff missing Senga. There are enough arms in the bullpen to not be burnt out by the end of May, especially with the starting pitching rounding into shape. I stuck with my analysis.

Well said. It's a culture of losing along with a history of poor management on every level.
Enough already.
I love that opening photo, perfect feeling when watching the Mets right now

word missing is obviously worse.

I strongly disagree.
