Sometimes guys play better in the majors than minors. I’d like to see Acuna. That speed is something we could use. I really doubt Baty can play 2nd in MLB plus he would need to hit and worrying about playing a new position won’t help him focus on hitting.

Given his contract and performance over the past season and a half, he has zero trade value. I know he's out of options, but it might be worth McNeil's while to accept an assignment to Syracuse for a couple of weeks to get straightened out. I recall Steve Trachsel voluntarily going down to AAA after a disastrous first half for the Mets in 2001.

It takes a certain kinda guy to agree to that kinda thing, and I’m not totally sure McNeil is that kind of guy. I don’t blame players for not wanting it, but there’s only so much the Mets can do at this point.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. He needs to face up to the fact that whatever he's been doing hasn't worked. The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

Didn’t he have a partial UCL tear in spring training?

Baty got optioned to the minors, not the majors

I like Baty, but are the Mets really going to play him at 2b in a major league game?

I think he’d need a lot more reps before they consider it. Ritter and/or Iglesias are probably the two “right now” options with Baty and Acuña being a bit further down the road.
