What a breath of fresh air! We can only hope it continues (and that Alvarez's injury isn't serious). Nice writeup, brother Van Buskirk, but you didn't have to contribute to the "incredibly" pollution that is rife in sports commentary. All these are good alternatives: shockingly, astoundingly, extraordinarily, astonishingly, even shamefully, sloppy fielding. And sometimes plain old "very" works.

This is EXACTLY what they need. A true leadoff hitter, who is very pesky. Dykstra-like with out the other bullsh*t. I think Ewing, followed by Benge, could be a great 1-2 punch. They could feed off of each other.

Please, oh please Lawd, don't let Torrens get hurt.

Hey, I'm a Dykstra fan! Don't say bad stuff about my guy! The list of Mets who've hit walk off homers in the post season isn't a long one. So what if he snorted a little coke before every game, so did a lot of guys. I can't help but remind you that the Mets platooned him, thinking he couldn't hit lefties. After they traded him to the Phillies he only led the league in obp, playing every day. Finally, he was once asked why he did so well in baseball fights since he was the smallest guy on the field. He answered, "I bite".

As a guy once sang, the times they are a changing!

As HOF Ken Griffey Jr. said. "Let the kids play."

I'd rather see this team have enthusiasm and growing pains, than vets who are listless and a pain in our ass.

There are a lot of mediocre teams out there. The Mets have some exciting talent. The season isn't over. It's only mid-May. The kids are a basic reason for watching.

It was okay to clean house some, but they brought in some dubious options. Maybe some addition by subtraction and focusing on the future.
