Thank you all for your support in 2024!
As Gary Cohen said, “from 0-5 to OMG!”
What an amazing season it was for these New York Mets. Almost nobody expected this club to even sniff the postseason, and here were are, in late October talking about how the Mets were one of the final three teams remaining before finally being eliminated by the Dodgers on Sunday night.
It was a remarkable season, and one for the ages that we will all remember fondly forever, even though the Mets were not able to capture their third world championship in 2024.
It’s been 38 years - we will have to wait at least one more.
But, the final takeaway from such a phenomenal season is that we all have to believe great times are most certainly ahead. Sure, there’s a lot of uncertainty with pending free agents, a lot of question marks with the players who are definitely coming back, but every team has those problems to solve and the Mets are in the fortunate hands of a rich and passionate owner who has hired one of the great modern baseball executives in David Stearns to steer this ship forward.
After all, it was Stearns who primarily architected this roster and turned a team from an afterthought into a legitimate championship contender in a matter of 12 months.
That started from the ground up, hiring the right people, retaining the right people, and making wholesale changes to the brand and culture of the Mets to help turn this club into an instant winner.
For now, it is time for all of us to rest and reboot. A busy winter lies ahead and we are less than four months away from the start of the 2025 season, when everyone will descend upon Port St. Lucie, Florida to begin another journey towards a baseball championship.
Hopefully, a year from now Mets Nation is all standing in the Canyon of Heroes together celebrating that long awaited World Championship for the Mets.
In the meantime, we all wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our readers for supporting us in 2024. This was by far our most successful season - we have already and easily exceeded the traffic to the site from a year ago, with plenty of time to spare.
That tells us what we do matters here, and we are forever grateful for your loyalty and support of the newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading our work on a daily basis, and will continue to do so as we move ahead into the off-season and into 2025.
For now, the writing team will be taking a break during the World Series, although we plan to post a few of things here and there to give you all some things to think about during this time. We will be back in full as free agency begins in November.
Keep the faith, and Let’s Go Mets!
Yes, what you do matters to us....Thank You for all the great writing and info. There's always next year!
And thank you New York Mets, and you folks dishing out the information!
