Totally disagree…if we fall back by the end of July then yes… if not then as fans and season ticket holders we still have a half season to watch these guys and it does not make sense to go through what happened last year when we have stocked farm system and can make deals after the season. You would have sold off the 2015 team which was awful on the first half… I actually think the team is coming together and you need to give that the next several weeks while we play teams in front of us.

This team is not "coming together". They're in a softer part of the schedule and playing teams they should beat, but can't muster up consistent offense or get starting pitchers to go beyond 5 innings. That's unsustainable.

You seem to be suffering from selective memory loss. The 2015 Mets were not "awful" in the first half. In fact, on this date in 2015, they were in first place, 1.5 games ahead of the second place Nats.

As far as the Mets having a "stocked" farm system, you can never have enough good prospects. Some of them will become productive players for the Mets (think Strawberry, Gooden, Dykstra), while others will be used to fill needs on the roster (think Hernandez, Carter, Ojeda).

Stearns knows how to build an organization for long-term success. Look at Milwaukee. They lost their top two starting pitchers and their closer and they're STILL in first place, 5.5 games ahead of St. Louis.

I am not “suffering from memory loss.” Even if the record was slightly better we stunk. Winning in the soft part of the schedule is how it works and what you are supposed to do. We are just about to get more prospects in the draft. But I will agree with you that I trust Stearns to do what is best. And now that we are 2 games out of the wild card and if we continue to win I do not believe he will sell off.

I also totally disagree. I've loved baseball for 60 years and we cannot let this sport become a half season affair so the sports media can talk about the trade deadline for 6 weeks. You quote the owner and GM who also said Mets would contend and be in the playoff hunt and Cohen said that again recently. They did the big selloff last year. Trading Alonso is frankly insane or Marlins-eque which are the same. He should be resigned and is everything you want your face of franchise to be. And if you trade him he ain't coming back. Cohen is too smart to take the fans for granted. Nimmo is part of this team's identity. It used to be in baseball we had a real shot at September magic because the focus of ownership was on winning, not endless trading. Look at the Texas Rangers. The front office said enough focus on trading baseball cards and prospects. Our focus is winning. And they won.

I agree. Unfortunately, this team just isn’t good enough. It’s hard to go on a sustained run when pitching, hitting and defense aren’t good. If we can get a few more good prospects we’ll be better for it in the long run.

Totally disagree

Tanking a season to get another team’s 15 th best prospect is absurd. Seve and JD will yield next to nothing

Try and win, as every team in every sport should do.

Tanking means losing, now and forever.

This team can and should compete for a playoff spot - if the playoffs probability is above 15% there is no way you sell anything. The returns will be tiny
