Reading the minor league box scores ---- thanks for providing those---- raises several questions about the Mets operation. I understand wanting to stay in Brooklyn, but if it messes with the offensive players that badly, is it best to change something? Either make some adjustments to the stadium, or move to a stadium that does not hinder offensive production. And can we not have every game be a bullpen game by design? How can you expect pitchers to pitch deep in big leagues if they are not in the minors.
I contend arm injuries come from them being overused in the amateur ball, then UNDERUSED in the minors, which then causes an issue. Once stretched out in hs/college, reducing them to 40 pitches is more harm than good.
Indeed. It's perfectly obvious to even a casual fan that Baty, while a good second and third basemen, is not an outfielder and there doesn't appear to be any reason he can be made into one. Regarding the Robert rumor, if they can get even a mid-tier prospect, jump on it. Even before he was injured, he didn't hit and his glove work was not equal to his favorable reputation.
So with 5 top notch outfielders 3 were on the bench and they played an infielder instead. So that’s the state of affairs and btw not a single infielder earning their pay. Their best infielder is now in Oakland who also played a decent outfield when called upon. But to keep Lindor happy he’s gone now and Semien is batting about.213 great going. I’d bet Oakland wouldn’t trade McNeil for Lindor without cash and two prospects. And last of all your best first baseman is in Baltimore doing just fine, great job and congrats to the front office

We talk about players not being able to handle big city markets. Except for brief periods of time, this franchise has been a disaster at managing a baseball team in NYC.

I'm not concerned about big city markets here. I am concerned about simply knowing how to run a baseball team. When the team went on its fun run, the team was in a groove in all areas—pitching, baserunning, and so on. Not so now.
The team barely shows life on the bases. It continues to field badly. Setting them up to fail, like putting Baty in the outfield when you have five actual outfielders, is asinine.
If they needed a reset after last season, fine, but they have to do it the right way. The message being sent by keeping Stearns, who screwed things up, is worse than if you admitted it is not working and you find someone who can actually run things properly.
I think someone good will be open to it. Maybe you can think outside the box. Boy genius is not doing the job.

I feel like we’ve become the Angels. We have a generational talent who’s one of the best hitters in MLB, have a high payroll and still can’t win.
