Interesting conundrum. Arguably, the most valuable trade chips are in the bullpen. So if Stearns trades away the pen - the only part of the team consistently producing - then what? It's kind of like a see-saw effect caused by the glaring imbalance of the roster Stearns created. It follows the jettisoning of the "core" three regulars in the offseason for players that we haven't seen much so far.
Keep him. He provides a key arm next season. I question if he will get enough to warrant losing that. If some team is stupid about it, maybe. I would focus on other players.
In all those scenarios, only a real BASEBALL man can put such a team together for those variations; nerd geeks like DS are advisory at best to supply the #’s. Corporate geeks like DS can’t be allowed NEAR any roster discussions.

Trading Weaver for anything less than a first rate hitter or starting pitcher will be another in a long line of STUPID decisions made.
I’m keeping Weaver and Williams. Move Raley, Minter, Peralta. Myers has been pretty shit but I’d keep him because of his team control.
Myers is a potential toss in for the right deal.

Why the Mets can’t have nice things…
ONLY 1 Move needs to be made: Fire Stearns & beg Billy Epplerti return. He’s only an advisor in MILW so would jump at getting his old job back.
For me, the biggest problem the Mets will have, as well as all teams, is the status of 2027 baseball.
1) What will be the structure of payrolls in terms of ceilings, floors, contract lengths, Taxes, etc.?
2) Will the team roster's total payroll be grandfathered if its lowered?
3) Will there be any baseball? Or 3/4ers of a season or half a season? And what will be the playoffs to WS look like?
4) If it is a shortened season, would you keep/build a team with a shortened season in mind (sneak in and win a WS)?
This CBA is play out very interestingly.
