Of Vientos: "He has a net negative value as a struggling right-handed designated hitter with no place in the field, and all of that is a big reason why the Mets have been bad for over a year". Really? Of course he's got to go but Vientos' failings are a very small reason why the Mets have been bad. Far bigger reasons are the failings of Polanco and Semien and Baty and Senga and Peterson and the absence of a guy name of Alonso.
Great point. I have to consider Mauricio, Baty, Vientos, Polanco, and yes, Alvarez as dead or dying wood.
Williams and Senga are close behind but should get a another look at ST - if there is one in '27. That's at least four of the most anticipated young players we had that have basically topped out already.
The team Stearns assembled NEVER made sense. Holding on to dead weight too long and losing the one of their few irreplaceable players - Alonso. Not upgrading pitching. Adding an aging second baseman. Baffling.

Another decision is Mauricio, who, I think, is out of minor league options, but hasn’t proven that he can play at the major league level.
But he's never gotten a long run to show what he can do, unlike Baty, who sadly has shown that he's not a keeper.
