BREAKING: "The Astros and Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Imai are in agreement on a free agent contract, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. It is a three-year contract with opt-outs after every year, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN. The deal maxes out at $63MM, per Chandler Rome of the Athletic. Heyman adds that Imai will receive an $18MM annual salary plus incentives that can bring that to $21MM if he reaches 80, 90, and 100 innings."

God only knows why Stearns didn't think Imai was worth this three year deal. Things are looking bleak for our starting staff. Sproat may not be ready. We have a collections of ifs. Discouraging.

There’s this guy on YouTube I think his name is Wandy? I dunno. There was an interview with a Spanish guy who supposedly is the Spanish voice for the Mets and the VP of players development for the Mets and it was in Spanish but he translated it. He said Mets fans need to chill. They will have 2 new starting pitchers plus have the holes filled that need filling. He said it will be done through trades with guys coming up too. He also mentioned they love guys who can play multiple positions as they want back ups on the roster for every position. The guy who’s podcast it is got the feeling that Bellinger will be a Met from that interview. It seems they are hard in with him. Belli has other suitors of course but it seems the Mets are there. He mentioned them being in on Imai but Senga is an issue there as he doesn’t want to be on a team with other Japanese players. I don’t know how popular this kid is but if Bellinger and Imai plus another arm are coming. I’d feel better going into the season.

According to multiple reports, the Mets were never fully in on Imai. These days you never know what is true.

Honestly, I think the only FA they might sign is Bellinger. I don’t see any other FA being in their plans. Trades are going to be how they acquire the rest of the team

Back to Soto, I don’t want him running as much. Let him be a hitter only. Looking at guys that run, and you see sprained thumbs, wear and tear, no…. Get a few steals, but don’t run into walls and be opportunistic on the bases, not a full blown base stealer.

I'm surprised that in your Soto section you didn't say anything about improving in the field and stopping his maddening habit of standing at the plate to watch his long flies which sometimes clear the fence and sometimes hit the wall. No reason he can't start running while he watches.
