I hope AJ Minter returns healthy. I don't care (much) if he starts the season on the IL. Just as long as he's fully ready by about mid-May.

Stearns screw up in allowing/miscalculating Diaz departure should be unforgivable.

That's the one thing I can truly knock him for. But even there, if Sugar wanted to go, there wasn't anything to stop him.

And it's a reminder of how much attitudes have changed over the years, that no resentment toward Diaz has been voiced anywhere that I know of.

None toward Pete, either. But you're right, there's been a definitely change of attitude, especially this century. It's the Age of IGM.

The days of a Cal Ripken spending entire career on one team is ending

I don't blame him for desiring LA....great weather, organization, and more progressive. He may feel more comfortable there.

Disagree. Inferior pizza.

I try not to think about how it'd be if we were headed into this season with both Diaz and Williams. Not to deny that this is a black eye for Stearns, but we don't know what went on behind the scenes.

I like where we are. Stearns has stocked up on quality arms to go with a much more balanced lineup and (hopefully) a more solid defense. We certainly look good up the middle.

Get outs, get hits, catch the ball. Be in every game. I like it.

Solid breakdown of the bullpen depth. The Brazoban situation is intresting because it shows how much mentality matters in relief pitching, not just raw stuff. I've seen similar confidence swings with relievers on other teams and it can really dictate their whole season. Myers as a multi-inning weapon could be huge if he can replicate that WBC performace in a setup role.

Finding our way to Myers in the Peralta deal was some really good business. It was a win-win trade, but I must admit, it probably would have been a win-win with Peralta alone.

And ditto on Brazobán. His body language makes him an open book, and the correlation between him sagging at the shoulders and getting rocked is around 100 percent. 😆

But hey, if his head is right, his stuff really plays. And with more consistency in our bullpen and less of an injury-driven revolving door, he could easily settle in and trust his stuff more.

I must have missed this. How did Lavender get back to the Mets?
