Agreed about holding onto to our catching duo. Mr. Buskirk, can you tell me why Mauricio isn't with the big club? In a lost season, isn't it an ideal time to play him and see if he can figure it out?

Methinks it's one of two things: either they're leaving as much room in the final hours to showcase whatever value exists with Baty and Semien, or the current FO feels they've seen all they need to see with Ronny.

Mauricio seems to have figured out Triple A but not the major leagues . I have no confidence in his ability to make it with the Mets . The again is he any worse than Bret Baty or Mark Vientos . I still think that Baty may still find himself. I see signs from him at times ..Vientos strictly DH

I'm not confident but he's a toolsy guy and fact is, he's never gotten a full shot, i.e., played every day 20-30 games. Baty has and he hasn't made the most of his chance. Vientos is history.

Great piece, as always. One note: Guardians manager is Stephen Vogt, not Terry Francona (who manages the Reds).

Yup, late-night Freudian slip — saw 'Cleveland' and 'Francona' and went automatic. Tito challenged the HBP on a two-strike count to try and get another shot at striking out Manzardo, and it backfired as badly as it possibly could have.
