Great for Pete. How the Mets don’t sign him after this season would be a grave mistake. If you look at how Vientos plays first and Pete does who do you want there? He can dig throws out of the dirt and might be the best in the league which saves outs as throws are often off line from the infielders. He might not have range but he’s capable plus he posts. 162 you can pencil the guy in which also means he doesn’t get hurt. I believe he will give you 30-35 HRs for the next 5/6 years easily. Congrats to Pete. I hope a Met for life. I got nothing else.
It's been clear as day for a good while that Holmes can't start anymore this year. Someone's been stubborn. Don't know if it's Holmes himself or the brain trust . Both?
I see a lot more analytics in your daily posts and I am an old schooler but they do provide excellent evidence of what is happening during these at bats.Do they have stats for mistake pitches and the damage done on these pitcher errors? With bat to ball skills and situational hitting much more limited in today’s game hitters are increasingly relying on pitcher mistakes to do damage.Shifting infielders although more limited now are still standing in areas that were clear singles before. That’s why batting averages are down and ops and ops plus are the stats most discussed.I kind of miss the old days but it is what it is All of you do a wonderful job of covering this team and adjusting your posts to the analytics world
It's mid-August. You want to hit your peak in mid-September and roll into the postseason on a heater. There's still time.
But we need better starting pitching. We're not going to make it with exactly one guy who can be relied upon for a quality start (and that shouldn't be hard to reach — it's pitching to a minimum 4.50 ERA).
I'm not sure about moving Holmes to the 'pen, though. If his problem is fatigue, pitching more often for shorter stints may or may not make a difference. If his problem is his stuff (and I think that's the real issue: not changing speeds) what he really needs is an adjustment.
Anyway, really good day yesterday. Yay for the Polar Bear, a team legend now for sure. Yay for Alvie finding his inner beast. Yay for the lineup hitting fastballs for a change.
Now we just need Lindor to find it and we're playing ball again. We go as far as he takes us.
Now, maybe the hype and pressure on the record are off and he can go back to being the hitter he was in April/May. As for the rest of the top 4... I feel bad for Peterson, being the only guy who can get the sixth inning was a load he was not ready for. Senga is turning out to be too high maintenance, and Walker was a bad experiment. Montas over Severino was just a huge mistake(even with Severino's injury)

Good for Pete 👏 it was good to see actual offense last night. Holmes has to go to the BP. DFA Stanek to make room.
No. Hagenman and Montas. No one is claiming Montas on waivers, and if they do throw a party. Eat the loss. Consider him the Mike Torrez of this staff.
You are correct. Good point 👊

Congrats Pete! A great moment for you in the history of the Mets.

So they set the magic number at 13.
