I was reading elsewhere that Montas has resembled a Christmas tree in his rehab starts, getting lit up. I’m not worried, because I think a couple of sessions with Hefner will find he’s either tipping his pitches, or he needs a tweak to his mechanics.

(Also, you have the Giants beating the Giants in the “around” section)

Hi Brian, thanks for pointing that out. Complete brain fart on my part, and I've now corrected it. Thank you again, and thanks for reading!

Montas might just be airing it out, too. He's likely focusing on building arm strength and not bothering to get too cute.

Yes......Alonzo has finally earned All Star votes from me....Soto has enabled him to relax...and to manage strike zone better.

My best takeaway from last night: how loose the squad looked despite being in a pretty tight, and pretty key, game against the defending champs. We've gotten over the hump.

Alonso's performance was great, but Canning's comeback is an even bigger story to me. Once again, the Mets have a starter who's having the best year of his career. I haven't seen anybody comment on Mauricio's 0-8 start. Hoping he gets going. Lotsa talent there.

Mauricio will be fine in the long run. He's just overmatched right now, mostly because of the lack of reps on his comeback. He came up pretty quickly.

Canning's bounceback start was indeed key. It was great to see. There was no sign of him wearing the last two starts on his sleeve. He just went out and pitched. Great stuff.
