When 'Senga doesn't want to get traded' is the news of the weekend, you know the author has nothing to offer

Yup, and then it's repeated by a couple dozen sites whose only role is to rehash what pundit #1 said.

I think Baron's take on this is accurate. There have been plenty of championship teams who were a boiling teapot. In contrast, I heard nothing but glorious things about the Mets clubhouse when David Wright was captain and that team won nothing outside of 2015. The reason? They had better players, including a young staff of pitchers who all blossomed, together. This was a poorly constructed team that still somehow managed to be within a win of a postseason berth. Hopefully, the lessons will be learned. The real question: who leaked to Puma? The timing suggests it was somebody recently let go. The answer may not be as obvious, too.

I hope it's not a distraction (off topic):

"On Monday, the New York State Gambling Facility Location Board met at the Proshansky Auditorium at CUNY Graduate Center in Midtown Manhattan to vote on who would be granted gambling licenses. The board recommended a gaming license for the Cohen and Hard Rock International’s $8 billion Metropolitan Park project."

We've known about Lindor and McNeil not getting along from the beginning. Anyone with eyes knew coming in about Soto going his own way and doing his own thing — all business.

And everyone with a handle on things knows the sports press is going to tag players as leaders just for being the ones to talk to them.

(Side note: everyone with a background in print news knows about filling space. You wouldn't believe how important that is on a daily basis. Nothing terrifies an editor more than a looming deadline and big, fat blank spot on the proof with nothing to put in it.)

Our season rolled over in the top of the 6th on June 13 and never recovered for the exact reason why our season rolled over in the top of the 6th on June 13: pitchers getting shelled.

Other factors contributed. We played bad baseball from that point on — shoddy defense, inconsistent hitting (you MUST hit fastballs, by the way), baserunning mistakes. But nothing demoralizes a team more than sending one guy after another out there just to watch them get rocked.

The question I keep asking myself is why this conflict in the locker room is coming out now? Who leaked it? And what was their intention?

Likely somebody not affiliated with the organization, anymore. There are multiple choices, too.

Excellent! I hate it when baseball commentary descends to the level of shabby gossip. Makes me feel like I'm an idiot to be a sports fan. The NY Post sportswriter in question should stand up, announce "I am a gossiper", and take a bow. It's a testament to how desperate we baseball fans are to get any snippet of news.

Nothing but clickbait here. The offseason is slow and these writers need to show their employer they are worth the salary they are garnering. Nothing more nothing less. It took Lindor a year to give McNeil the car he said he would owe him if Jeff won the batting title and then it was a $24,000 Ford Bronco. The lowest model you could buy. It’s been no news but became news when right now there is no news to report on.
