We may need a hitting lab

Don't worry, they'll hit. And the pitching was better than good; I'd say the bullpen was superb.

We pitched really well. Keep that up for an entire season and we're seriously cooking with gas. Or, at least we will be once the hits start coming.

Megill going five is nice but not quite stellar. If Canning holds up, it will be a nice surprise and figure he would be the fifth starter when SM. comes back. It's early. Look at the Braves record. Astros is a very good team. But it is quite unpleasant to watch the Mets offense when it is not hitting.

Agreed. About "stellar", sportswriting is a hotbed of hyperbole! Me, I can't stand the nonstop use of "dominant" instead of "was effective", "pitched well", etc.

And they did face good pitching.

There is something about the Mets that their fate is to always struggle offensively. I grew up with it in the 70s and have learned to embrace it. We'll never be like the Yankees scoring 20 runs in a game. But once in a while we will witness miracles that we can forever cherish. And that lack of offense makes the miracles sweeter than anything a Yankees fan has ever experienced.
