The Mets are mimicking the Democrats.....as the elders fail, the leadership refuses to promote the youngsters from AAA....it would provide an emotional jolt and a freshness too. But..
Alonzo success vs. team failure ensures he will want to depart for a winning team. What they needed was a winner.... a guy who has won it and knows how to go about it.
And Lindor, in one of the two at bats in which he put the ball in play, hit into a double play.
And Nimmo and his after striking out schtick of schlepping, zombie-like, unemotionally back to the dugout is getting old. He needs to get pissed ... slam the bat ... throw a helmet ... something to indicate he still has a pulse. A slump is one thing, 14 Ks in 25 ABs is quite another.
I would sit both of them today; could things be any worse?
On the other hand, the Giants scored 34 points yesterday, including 3 TD passes, and it was glorious. I don't give a damn that it was only preseason game #1.
The best thing about yesterday's game was Lindor slamming his glove into the bench after making that error. I've been waiting for that. Everyone is vapor locked. Vent. Let it out.
The next thing to look for — or, I should say, hope for — is everyone who's slumping at the same time getting hot at the same time. We can still make a run.
I don't think we can count on more than two starters (Peterson and Manaea) giving us seven solid consistently from September on, but if we hit, maybe we can slug our way through with the revamped bullpen.
Just watched as they blew a 5 run lead. I though that the one thing Stearns did at the trade deadline was to make the bullpen so much better. Yet, here we are. It's going to take a lot for me to regain any faith in this GM.
Thankfully I didn’t watch the game yesterday but I just wanted to comment that Montas and Stanek can’t ever pitch another game for us and can we please give Nimmo and Lindor a few days off. They’re not helping. They’re making things worse.
This team is unwatchable anymore. I have quit the season. Just like always “wait ‘till next year” we Mets fans suffer through things that never happens is baseball but it does to the Mets. They took advantage of the fans who showed up this year after Cohen called out the attendance woes. We fans filled the stadium even through this. I hope when they come back home the place is a ghost town. It would show this team has quit and so have we. Stearns blew it this year. He thought he could outsmart baseball and lost. Priester on the mound today doesn’t bode well for a win. I have plenty of house work to get done. I feel like a sucker and I’m pissed.
We’ll be there til the bitter end, but I can’t fault anyone for feeling this way right now. This is not acceptable for a team with their expectations and talent.
I, for one, couldn’t care less if Alonso breaks the home run record. That’s a Pyrrhic victory—a plaque on the wall while the bigger picture rots.
The truth is, Alonso has been pretty awful during this stretch. His batting average has plummeted nearly 100 points from earlier in the season, and if you tally up his failures in the clutch, they far outweigh his successes.
Chasing milestones means nothing if you can’t deliver when it matters most.
To quote an old warrior, "Now this is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end. But it is perhaps, the end of the beginning"! Or quote a Hall of Fame Coach for each player to " Look at the man in the mirror"!! And one last one from the great sign man of Shea Carl, each player and coach should have to answer, " ask yourself, have you given 100%"!!!
I turned it off after Contreras' homer and went outside. Protecting my mental health.

Giants fans really know how to set themselves up for disappointment every summer 😂
But, then again, I guess we do the same thing as Mets fans 😅
Why are you trying to drain every last ounce of joy out of my life? Don't you think the Mets are doing a good enough job of it?
I watched that too. The kid looked good.

Montas had another bad outing. It's time to call up someone. Probably 2. They need six starters for the stretch, and Montas isn't doing it.

The final score was 7-4. [The text says "7-6."]
Congrats to Alonso. Good for him. He will break the record soon.
Then, I think the main focus should be on the stretch run. Alonso and everyone else can help, hopefully with some good stories along the way.
Okay. So the 7-6 score was a prediction of TODAY'S game? My mistake.
