New York recovers from a tough afternoon loss to take the nightcap. Plus, Carlos Mendoza's gutsy lineup changes paid off and deserve a lot of praise...
Looking forward to after the break: "Francisco Alvarez went 3-for-4 in game one with a home run for the Mets and has now hit a homer in three straight games."
Bueno, la maniobra Nimmo-Lindor no me parece tan audaz. Arriesgado hubiera sido colocar a Taylor o Batty para abrir el turno de bateo, pero funcionó, así que lo aceptamos como decisión inspirada.
I never understood why it makes such a difference to a batter where they bat in a lineup. Glad it worked last night. One of these days I'll be enlightened, 😆.
Lindor has been leading off for 200+ games in a row. Making a change like that could’ve been seen as desperate & it involves a star player. There is a bit of boldness to that.
The offense looks so much better when Lindor hits. Tidwell seems like right now he’s a 3 inning pitcher. I was down on Nimmo earlier in the season but he’s having a good season.
None except Diaz inspire me....a middling bullpen has been a trait for last 25 years. In first decade of 2000s Mets had a 6 game lead on Phillies near season end. It seemed the offense/starters did their part & supplied 3-5 run leads in 6th innings of many games but BP would give games away. Traumatic. I know good relievers are difficult to find...like diamonds.
Am I the only one who noticed Dicky Lovelady came up big in the second game? I mean he was up for the moment.
Okay, I'll show myself out.
😏

Don't see how reversing Nimmo and Lindor in the lineup is either "bold" or "gutsy". Glad it worked.

I haven't seen anything from Tidwell that inspires enthusiasm.

Like a good plumber or HVAC guy. At least Butto is still good. I won't forget that game down the stretch when they lost to Phillies 11-10.
We really needed that performance in Game Two. It wasn't just the win. We needed to play a ballgame. We were starting to look like zombies out there.
