I was looking for a good discussion of the Tauchman situation and I found it. Thanks, brother Buskirk. Hope the MRI doesn't show something nasty like a torn ACL. If Tauchman is out long term, wonder if Christian Pache is being considered. He's had a great spring for what that's worth.
Sucks for Tauchman. We should know soon what the options are. As for Manaea, I really thought he was going to the IL for extended spring. Not sure I want his 88 mph fastball coming out of the bullpen either. I do like that we’re going with a 5 man rotation though.
I may have missed a transaction but where is Mauricio? If Tauchman is out for the season or extended time, Mauricio should be able to cover most of the infield while allowing Baty and Benge to workout RF. What am I missing?
All part of constructing a roster from spring training till opening day. In my opinion they made the best decision on the starting rotation with what they have, Benge should be the starter in right, and hopefully for Tauchman he can take care of what hopefully is not a tear, and contribute later in the season if he gets the chance. We are days away from the start of another season!
How can Manaea be upset? He’s lucky he is still on the team. The philosophy is fill the zone with “stuff”. He has neither. I don’t give a crap about his last start either. He had a crap year last season and aside from his “ace” half season in ‘24 this is Manaea. He is a 4 plus ERA pitcher who hoodwinked Stearns to a contract that nobody else was going to give him. Stearns acted hastily which was out of character for him and most likely because Sevy inked a deal rather quickly. He felt losing Manaea and 2/5 of the rotation would be difficult to replace. He should have played the long game with him and now he’s eating it. Manaea should have had the surgery but as we all know it most likely would’ve led to TJ because hey we are already open here and you’re gonna need it anyway so let’s pull the trigger now. Loose bodies is your ligament failing. It’s simple anatomy. I’m predicting he gets it done at some point so watch for that. If Tauchman is out for any real length I’d like to see Melendez get a shot. I almost said Pache but I think MJ offers more power. Benge clearly is the right fielder now. Glad that “suspense” is over. Opening day is days away! LGM! Happy for Howie! Goin out on top. Always leave them wanting more. That’s showmanship. According to Seinfeld.
I've had this conversation before, possibly on this page. The Mets will do right by Manaea and his wishes. He's approaching 10 years of service time and any surgery coupled with a possible labor stoppage in '27 could severely compromise his post playing career (pension). Yes, he likely needs a procedure, but he'll hold off on in until after a) the season ends or b) there is a CBA agreed to, to insure his future. A left handed pitcher, approaching his late 30s is an uncertain future.

Is Mauricio making the team? Despite objective results to the contrary, I still just have a liking for the guy, hoping he can finally break out.
Already been optioned. Believe it's his last one. Agree, lots of talent there.

Sorry, "loose bodies is your ligament failing" is not true.
Joel, my wife has been an orthopedic nurse for over 30 years. In more cases than not it most certainly is.
I decline to have a credentials contest. Your statement is not true.
Not a problem. The future will show how this plays out.
