I've read Baty's being recalled. Good. Can we consider the unthinkable--that Vientos at 3rd every day is not written in stone and that Baty should get some starts there?
I know we scored runs but our hitting with RISP was bad. Could have easily won both games. I agree with the pitchers. Tidwell was very disappointing. Just go with 5 and tell Senga to man up until Manaea or Montes is back.
I dunno...Senga has been excellent and Holmes very good with the staff being managed as they've been doing. Very painful losses. Winker hasn't done much so if they had to lose a position player to injury, it might as well be him. Watching Tidwell pitch, I thought of that time-honored phrase, "He's not fooling anybody".
Valid point about Senga and Holmes. It’s just testing our depth until we get some guys back. I think there are off days once a week in May so that should help.
I hate experiments in the starting rotation like yesterday's opener. They usually don't work out, and it leaves a bittersweet taste in the mouth for the debuting pitcher: he's made his major league debut, only to suffer a painful loss, including a return to Triple-A. Wasn't it preferable, for example, to introduce Buttó as a starter so he could pitch four or five innings? In the end, the bullpen had to take on a significant workload because Tidwell didn't live up to his expectations.
Vientos has repeatedly now failed to even advance runners in scoring position--never mind getting a hit to score them

Maybe at this point they think of Butto as a major weapon best used to protect a lead?
