I've said it before, Acuna needs to play regularly at 2b. McNeil can spell the of , pinch hit, and on days Lindor needs a blow play 2b, with Acuna at ss
It's got to be Luisangel at second. I thought he might win the job in Spring Training, but he wasn't quite there yet. He needed to tweak his stance and get more direct. But once he did that, and it didn't take long, look out.
Sugar made the one bad pitch to Stott but I thought he was pretty good besides that. He threw strikes, anyway. But I don't know if we'll be seeing triple-digit fastballs anymore; he probably tops out at 97-98 mph now. But if he can get there consistently instead of just once in a while, that will be good enough — provided he gets his slider working again.
Real elephant on Mets is Nimo. At $20 million a year, he provides no hitting (no power or average) weak fielding and arm and cannot steal bases. When McNeil returns, place McNeil in left and keep Acuna at second. Mets need Acuna's defense and base running: first to third and stolen bases. Mets need MacNeil to hit .300. Get on base and is serviceable in left.
I am disappointed that the NY media gives Nimo a pass. If Pete performed like Nimo it would be back page headlines. Nimo cannot become a 4th outfielder because his defense is poor and he cannot steal a base. Yes, Eppler, horrendous signing.
To be fair, I don't recall there being many people complaining at the time when Nimmo signed a long term deal. I do think it's a good idea to cut back on his playing time. As recently as two years ago he was considered an on base machine. Let's not toss him in the trash just yet...he's not old enough to conclude that he's through. Shaving his beard is the first step in recapturing his batting eye.
Lindor is on FIRE.
Acuna is making things happen.
Great hustle by Taylor.
One question, does Edwin Diaz need the 'pressure' to perform well? Getting those last two outs by striking out Turner and Harper was amazing.
It sure looked like that last night. Someone needs to get him pumped up or ticked off before he heads to the mound from now on.

I agree 100%. he’s giving us almost nothing. He’s on the books for 6 more years. Thanks Eppler
