Will fluidity at second base be a good thing for the Mets in 2025? Plus, Alonso is officially back, Smith returns, Stearns speaks and workouts officially begin...
Good piece. Only quibble is the statement about baty "having trouble on both sides of the ball". I saw him make a good number of difficult plays. I think he's not a bad third baseman.
2024 is over, and welcome 2025. There is no guarantee with an older player that they will be as productive as they were the year before. If he is not signed elsewhere I would offer him a position coaching somewhere in the organization.
I think the Mets will regret letting Candelita go. He was arguably the team's MVP last season, injecting life and excitement into a sleepy team that was going nowhere. Nick Castellanos said he should have been the NL MVP. He may not hit the way he did last season, but he is a solid, excellent player and could very well have been the key to another great season. They don't have another player like him and will miss his presence and energy.
As Castellanos said, Lindor needed to wake up and Iglesias did that. He woke the whole team up, in fact. Chemistry counts for a great deal. The infield prospects, including Vientos, are all unproven. We'll see who's right about the this, but I think they're going to miss Iglesias a lot.

Don't think you have a strong argument. Lindor easily team MVP. And I agree with Stearns that you have to make room for the 3 infield prospects.
