After substantially bolstering the bullpen on Wednesday, offense now needs to be the priority for New York. Plus, another loss in San Diego confirms the series sweep...
It makes no difference who is added to this lineup because if the guys already in it don't start, I believe the expression is 'playing to the back of their player cards', the team won't be going anywhere. The core has been dreadful; the only fix is for them to become 'undreadful'. That's not to say that a CF bat won't be helpful, it's just that 'helpful' requires the core to produce.
Absolutely, but I'm not at all enthused about available center fielders. I'm feeling better about the Rogers trade since we still have Clifford, Jett, and Benge.
I agree with everything that Mr. Steele said...except there's not really a good bat out there. Be surprised if Braves trade Ozuna to Mets. All the names that have been bandied about aren't likely to provide firepower. After Suarez, a huge dropoff in quality. I'd love to know what Stearns offered for him. Our only hope is that our stars start playing like stars.
These are seasoned veterans. The only fire that should be required is internal in each one of them. Baseball is more of an individual sport than a team sport. The players have to produce individually.
They should have enough offense, but are poor at creating runs. does anyone know how to bunt for a hit, or move a guy over without striking out? Power is great until it fails! They have a lot of names called starting pitcher, but may have 2 or 3 that can be reliable. If your offense struggles, then your starting staff can't always be putting you in the hole from the start of the game. I'd like to see a solid starter added to the mix, and not another guy who hits 210.
Love the BP moves. This offense is so frustrating to watch. The best avg in the lineup yesterday was .259. The names mentioned aren’t super inspiring but I want Robert as an upside play and maybe a lefty DH
Andy Martino should find something else to do. Mebbe a package delivery driver for Amazon or UPS. He could drive around all day and call into talk sports radio while listening to sports podcasts and spout his ridiculous viewpoints. For a guy who supposedly follows NY sports he hasn’t risen higher than SNY and doesn’t prospect any higher. He’s like the prospects in the minor leagues that nobody cares about until they make it to the bigs. He SUCKS! Pete and Lindor are hitting under .200 since the beginning of July. Not good. Why is it this team can’t get its shit together all at the same time? The Padres had it rolling 1-9 and looked like a juggernaut. Admit it you had your fingers crossed with every pitch. Darvish did what he always does to the Mets. Shut them down and made them look foolish at the plate. Pray we don’t see this team in the playoffs. Recall what they did the last time the Mets saw them in the post season. Stearns made some great moves and I surely wasn’t sad to see Butto go. I’ve been cursing him since last season. Should be a busy day today too. I agree with the Mets Pod that one of Baty or Acuna or Vientos won’t be a Met by the end of the today. Mauricio has played himself on this team.

This is the issue. There just aren't a lot of decent sticks being floated. Eugenio Suarez was probably the best immediate impact play, and he's gone.
We may be better off finding a front-line starter and roll with the bullpen and win a lot of 3-2 games and hope the bats wake up.
Can someone light a fire under the offense, please?

I don't like Martino either, but you're over the top.
Possibly, but him using SNY for his personal viewpoints on things other than sports was beyond the pale so I’ve got a bit of an axe to grind with him.
